Default BT 650 Discontinued?

With the release of the BT 700 Sport, I'm just wondering if anybody knows if the BT 650 has been discontinued?

It's not been in stock anywhere in the U.K. for quite some time now, several months, some stores don't even have it listed anymore.

Thanks

Thanks, but I did check there, and I see no sign of the 650 being discontinued. I guess it's just a U.K. supplier issue.

No reason for them to discontinue 650.. The 700 Sport is an affordable, toned down version of the BT.. it was not an upgrade to the BT..more of a downgrade to make it more affordable

I agree, I've just found it impossible to buy one here in the U.K. for some time, the sport release just got me thinking...

I'd rather build a 650 than a 700 TBH, just because it's a little cheaper to build than a 700.

I also think the Sport is a good option. The 650 is also able to be stretched to 700 anyways. I think it's better to jump on the 700 platform. You will have basically the same hardware, servo size and possible even ESC. The thing you might save is on packs, but still not like a huge difference. The BK combo with blades and servos is awesome, I am not sure if that is available over there.

Go with the BT 700.. it will cost the same as the 700 .. I have had both and prefer the 700 over the 650.. more blade options as well with the 700

You both have good points.

I have a Pyro 700-52 that I bought used to put in the 650, but I'm not so sure the Pyro 700-52 is meaty enough for a BT 700 build. Also, wouldn't I need a HW 160A ESC rather than the 130A I had planned to buy for a 700?

I wish the BK combo was available here, but sadly not!

The largest machine I have right now is a G500 Sport, so I'd think that even the 650 would feel considerably more floaty and stable than that, not the G500 isn't quite floaty and stable anyway!

You’ll love the 650- it flys much better in terms of float and stability and hang time than the 500 sport but equally has very similar agility and roll/ flip rates. However the delta is not as great as moving from a trex 450 to the goblin 500 from my experience. If I was buying new I would go for the 700 to be honest and specifically for the new 700 sport as it’s slightly cheaper and comes with skids!

Go with a BT 700 over the Sport.. By the time you add blades your almost at a BT 700 carbon fiber frame kit with quick connect canopy mounts carbon fiber boom canopy and it comes with the SAB TB blades

I'm kinda torn,

I actually like the look of the 700 Sport color scheme more than the Thunder T-Line, and I prefer the KSE style CF landing skids rather than the flippers, but they don't come with any BT as standard. I REALLY don't like the thumb screw canopy mounts that come with the 700 Sport, they are a right pain on the G500 Sport.

Only the T-Line has the quick connect battery tray as standard.

Also, I'd need to buy another motor for a 700, wheras the 700-52 I have would be fine in a 650.

O.K. thanks. Didn't you build yours with the XNova 4525 560? Did you change the motor, or stick with it on a smaller pulley?

Get the Sport. It's a good value.

The Sport and the T are basically the same, but the T has a few included upgrades.

So buy the Sport then get the battery system of the T. You already get skids and not flippers on the Sport.

Whoa. Just checked prices. On the US, the BT650 kit is $955. The 700 Sport is $698. Add 690 Switch mains and Switch 115 tails and it comes up to $832. So you get a larger heli that is compatible with the T upgrades for less money. I think the 650 is mostly compatible but if I'm not mistaken the frames are smaller. Plus, you would need to add into the BT650 cost the upgrades skids you want. I think the 700S is the best value.

As for motors I am lost. I have yet to go to those sizes. Still happy with my 500

You can always sell it and offset the cost of a new motor if needed.

Aaaaand. I think the BT650 doesn't have the tray system of the T anyways either. I think the original BT650 with the new 700S has lost its relevance. Just my opinion.

The BT 700 Sport isn't as great a deal here in the U.K. IMO.

As I said, I like new sport canopy, but I'm not that keen on the F3C skids as they don't lift the tail up as much as the KSE skids do (I like the more aggressive lean of the KSE Skids), and the Sport has Thumb screws for the canopy that I'd need to replace, and like you say, no matter what one I bought (apart from the Thunder T) I'd still need to buy the quick battery tray. I think that's must have item.

The sport is only worth it if you plan on crashing a lot.. cheaper parts.. Besides that there is no other reason not to get a BT 700 or 650.. The sport really isn’t that great of a deal as stated above

I think you have enough info just need to make your choice. Be sure to chime in what you hit “add to cart” and “checkout” on.
