So, to do the new rollers, you need 1 front and 2 rears. That's $30.

And you need 1 front guide sleeve and 2 rear guide sleeves. That's $21.

Will these work with the old sheets? Or do you have to replace both of them as well? Another $32

fluxcapacitor121,

I will change them out in my Green eXo this afternoon-I am keeping the old "sheets." I will post if I run into any problems.

For three sleeves, three wheels and two bags of bearings I get $73 plus shipping to upgrade to the new parts.

Never heard any issues with these and everyone is jumping on the upgrade bandwagon before theirs even go bad.

My original parts seem to be fine so far. No need for a rush to change them out.

Would be nice to have an official statement from Compass regarding these new parts. Silence leaves everyone guessing.

I was thinking about purchasing a 550X this spring/summer... If Compass has a Exo 550 releasing soon, I think I'll get one.

I will keep an eye this forum. Hopefully the price is competitive... and it crashes like a tank!

Yeah, I'm gonna run the originals.

Too much $$$--if it's not a required upgrade.

I do think the stock main belt roller is a little 'under-built."

But if it was regularly failing--I think we'd hear about it...

If you purchased a new kit, and the manufacture date is after December 2017, there is a pretty good chance they are already included.

I purchased a kit in early January 2018, and its Manufacture date is 12/18/2017. It had all the upgraded parts in the kit, and a newer canopy with more black outlining around the red part of the canopy windscreen areas.
sorry, i had new kit shipped in the middle of january and received an old kit, exactly like the used kit i bought earier

Yeah. It seems so. Maybe on the German forum there are more stories of failures.

Here is the PDF File with all the new parts and descriptions:
https://www.helifreak.com/attachment...1&d=1517912076

The new belt guide wheels are more durable, especially the guide wheel for the main belt with four much larger bearings. A very high belt tension is absolutely uncritical with this now.

The new inner frame sheets will make the eXo frame more crash resistant. They have no benefit in flight or for a 550 stretch. They are fully interchangeable and compatible with the old ones. So you can only swap one of them or also use the new guide wheels with the old plates or vice versa.

The battery plates only got a design change so the fitting of the velcro straps and inserting them in the frame is easier. The carbon will not add any strength or reduce weight in a significant way.

Itīs more like a facelift and not an essential upgrade. We wanted to incorporate our experiences of thousands of flights in the past 1.5 years to make the eXo an even more durable, maintenance-free and more cost-effective machine.

OK, I finally got the time to swap out the idler pulleys in the Green eXo. I also changed to the 18T motor pulley, after having done this with excellent results on the Red eXo.

The entire process took about an hour and a half (I work very slowly). The new pulleys are a DIRECT replacement for the old ones and no modification to the airframe is required. No washers/shims were needed.

Attached are a couple of photographs of the old and the new pulleys next to each other. You can see that both the diameter of the pulleys and the bearings are larger than the original versions. What you cannot see is what Kevin described (above), that there are a total of four bearings in the motor, idler pulley (a stack of two on each end).

I have an order in at Experience. They were kind enough to let me add parts to my order that were needed for the complete upgrade. I wasn't sure exactly what was needed until Keven's PDF (thanks Keven!).

Some may remember I had the rear belt drop below the pulley (twice), which stopped the tail blades. That experience makes me want to try the new pulleys, but currently the belt seems to be riding centered after I finally taco'd the original boom. The boom may not have snugged all the way up on the rear clamp (no way to test that theory now). I too went with the 18 tooth pinion, slower speeds are my thing.

Are the 60-3083 bearings $10.99 each?

The Green eXo after its test flight the other day!

It had flown before, but this was the first after installing the 18T motor pulley and the new idler pulleys.

Noticeably more oomph (technical language) with the smaller motor pulley and an uneventful but fun test flight!

Great little machine, getting better all the time!
