Default Futaba 16SZ own Yet! Speaker Quality?

Hello all you Hobby Happy Futaba Radio owners.
Does anyone here in Hobby World own a Futaba 16SZ Yet?
I am particularly interested in the Speaker Quality?
Loud enough? Clear Voice sound? What do you think?

Any other Futaba radio owners have a integrated speaker in the radio?
Is Futaba good at integrated Speaker technology?

Are All radio speakers the same quality? Spectrum? Mikado? all others?

Thanks,
DaMayor

I've got one on my 18SZ.

I did a fair bit of research on it a while ago. I was also lamenting the fact my 14SG did not have one. Eventually I just accepted that the Futaba line wasn't going to be as comprehensive as for instance a Jeti. Mainly it was around the programmability linking a condition to the speaker being activated and an intelligible explanation being emitted.

Futaba has decided how it's going to tell you something and when. This has resulted in interesting scenarios such as only repeating values being emitted or simply a common use not being supported. This has extended to the amount of support for speech based on the model of TX. For instance, I think only the 18MZ will tell you a simple function like what mode or condition you are in which is the first thing I ever heard out of my DX9 as soon as I turned it on!

Go figure. Even stalwart Futaba users can probably only tolerate that business model so long. I've stopped using the speech function but i did manage to get low receiver voltage being called out, albeit repetatively, after much effort. To be fair I've put my telemetry on hold after much effort, but that's a whole other story!

It was quite strange in the beginning. For some reason, after a number of attempts, I was convinced that speech did not exist for the internal speaker till some fellow Futaba enthusiasts convinced and showed me otherwise.

I'm not trying to deter you from getting the 16SZ. I love my 18SZ and still have my 14SG and 8FG. I believe Futaba is the most reliable out there in terms of transmission. Just don't have high expectations on the capabilities when it comes to speech.

On the quality of sound side difficult to give much feedback as to intelligibility due to low usage but seemed ok and the volume seems plenty loud and unencumbered.

so, wait - the 16SZ DOES have an internal speaker? I'm struggling to find this confirmed.
both the 16SZ and 18SZ manuals do not seem to show a speaker, page 14 labels all the switches etc but does not mention a speaker.
the same layout page in the older 18MZ manual clearly shows a speaker somewhere around the monitor LED indicator area

Default Does the 16SZ have a integrated speaker for Voice?

That's a good question.
Does the 16SZ have a integrated speaker for Voice?
This list from tower hobbies does not list a speaker per say.
Can someone confirm please?
Thanks,

that's correct. but what does not seem to be clarified, is this voice message via the audio jack only
or, does it actually have an internal speaker and output via that?

its something id like to know. afaik most futaba tx's did not have an internal speaker, except for the far more expensive versions such as the older 18MZ

Internal Speaker without using Audio Jack. However not programmable to statements other than set by parameters in the Telemetry section.

This was the same challenge I had with the 18SZ. I couldn't discern from the manual whether speech would really come out of the internal speaker. Eventually after some assurance it could be done I did achieve it

are you able to elaborate on what parameters DO give voice from the internal speaker?
information such as this seems nearly impossible to find.

That was wrong....

Car read 73 hehe.

MY biggest problem is having time to go fly. Between family and work its hard to get out. I can get a pack or two in but rarely more at a time. If I wasn't flying where I am it would be very infrequent.
