Unhappy Align 600n FBL electronics help!!

Hi guys,

My setup: Align 600n fbl with Rail Main and Tail Blades
Microbeast Plus FBL Controller
JR RG831B receiver with RA01T
Futuba S3152 servos x 3 on cylclic
Futuba S9251 servo on tail
Futuba S9450 servo on throttle
Castle CC Bec Pro
2 x Kryptonium 7.4v 2200mah LIPOs

Basically what I would like to know is from fully charged batteries hovering for approx 3 minutes I am left with 89% battery capacity. So from almost 4.20v per cell I am ending up with 4.08v per cell.

Is this normal consumption? I am too afraid to fly my heli after consuming so much in so little time.

I have tried the same heli with the Align BL800H on the cyclic and BL 850H on the tail and not even a minute in the air the setup was consuming almost 30% battery.

Could I be doing something wrong?
This is the second set of brand new LIPO I am using.

It's quite simple. Not enough lipo.
A Trex 600 Requires a lot of power to fly.

Take a good look at Lipo power C and S - Volta Values. Understand both. In order to determine the lipo you need.
C can be charge rate or discharge rate.

Your 2200 MAH 11.1v are likely 30 C Discharge Rate
3 C charge Rate

Now look at a 5000MAH Lipo 22 volt 60 C Discharge
3C Charge rate.

If you take an evening and study. You will quickly come with up with the answer to your question.
And the correct lipo for your helicopter.
Hope this helps.

Hi Ron,

If I'm reading correctly, he's running a 600N, and those are just Rx batteries.

A 2200mah should be good for several flights, depending on the length of the flight.

I'm a little confused. If I understand, in one scenario, OP is using 11% of battery capacity in 3 minutes. Switching servos, he is using 30% of battery capacity on 1 minute. The first scenario seems reasonable, especially for just hovering. The second scenario seems to be consuming way too much power. Just changing servos should not increase drain by 10x. (EDIT: although, looking at the specs, the Align servos appear to be 3x the torque, and much faster, so maybe...)

That will teach me to jump out of bed and start typing when I'm still 1/2 asleep.

The only thing I can think of that would cause excessive current would be overly tight ball links.
or high voltage servos drawing extra current.

How do they feel?
If they are tight get a ball link sizer and go over the helicopter.
Then lubricate them all with silicone.
I'd do the swash Bearing and sliders as well.

Looking at your Lipo specks
This is a Burst power calculation.
You would think you have plenty of power with that on board.
2200 X 30C = 66000/1000 = 66 amps divided buy the current per minute flight time.

The Lipo will actually only give you about 15C constant.
2200X15C = 33000/1000 = 33 amps
3 amps X 10 minutes give or take.
I'd like to know the current demand in flight. I have no idea what the cell voltages would be at the end. I'd need to look things over real time.

Pardon me if I'm babbling, just came in from work and my brain is mush!

Did you get this figured out? Am I reading it right that you are using 2x2200 mAh for a total of 4400mAh for your RX pack?

For one thing you should only need one 2200 RX pack. I have several gassers with 2200mAh LiFe packs. They use about 200 mAh for a 6 minute flight. That works out to an average current of 2amps.

But your usage may not be as bad as you think. Don't go by cell voltage so much as the mAh needed to recharge. I call this the charge-back.

I have any number of lipos that will charge to 4.2 V/cell on the charger but they drop down to 4.16 or 4.17 as soon as I take them off the charger. So if you are dropping from 4.16 or so to 4.09, that is not a a very big drop.

Inferring capacity used from cell voltage is only a very rough approximation. It is much better to go by charge-back. So fly for five or more minutes and measure that with your charger.

If you are really worried, you can set up data logging for your RX current and see what is really going on.
