Default K110 - Loose motor shaft?

How much play, if any, should the motor or shaft/pinion have? I was looking at mine last night to make a final decision on parts and noticed the top/cap of the motor moving up and down a bit. This appears to be the older motor with smaller holes and the wires bundled/heat-shrinked together.

The pinion is on there very tight with just a fraction of the shaft sticking out. There is a gold 'collar' of some kind above the pinion which I wonder if it slipped down. When moved, the top of the collar bumps up against the bottom of the motor and stops the movement.

The motor spun fine on it's own, albeit had a pretty slow spool up - maybe battery related. Maybe it's a combination of several things leading to poor performance. (poor batteries, bent main shaft, pinion not getting full contact with gear.. etc.)

Thanks!

Mine's pretty much brand new, but I've already flown it into a wall at speed, so I might not be a good reference point....but, mine has about half a millimeter of play.
