Default What did you do with your CPS today?

There's a thread like this in the 230s section and it gets a lot of traffic. So figured I'd start one here too, for anyone and everyone to share their experiences.

Today I flew five 220mah batteries in 10-15mph winds, with random gusts exceeding 20mph. It was rather interesting and quite amusing. Definitely helped me learn better control in all orientations both upright and inverted, as well as more practice bailing out of potential crashes. I still crashed a couple times, but those were mainly because I lost proper visual while catching a wind gust and losing orientation. Which added some feedback for the boiling the skid trick, still hasn't broken

3 batts in learning hover in 'hummingbird mode'..which is almost like learning to hover all over again. Even without wind.

Might need the check some settings in Phoenix Sim.

Maybe a reference to its twitchy nature, won't stay without constant input so it looks like a hummingbird

Doing circuits and piros around the Den. The cat is staring intently but the dog could care less.

Yes. Hummingbird mode = stunt mode.

Stunt mode without any 3d skill is like slowly driving through a busy neighborhood in a car without a accelerator or brake pedal but with a engine rpm at a constant 7000rpm and using 1st gear and reverse to vary forward speed using only the clutch.
Stop sign?...clutch in...select reverse...feather clutch to stop. Remember..no accelerator or brake pedal so to STAY stopped...gotta bounce between 1st and reverse constantly feathering clutch. (Any ensuing mental pictures of the frantic driver are symbolic of me dumbthumbing pretty much EVERY input..and pounding on the steering wheel)

A heli with 90% stabilization is ALMOST...a quad rotor.

Today I flew for over an hour straight. I practiced: upright forward and reverse flight (circles and 8's), upright tail in funnels, inverted hover in all orientations, and slow inverted flight.

It's taking me a really long time to learn inverted hover with tail left and right. Tail in and nose in inverted hover I've gotten down quite well. But tail to either side my brain is just having a LOT of trouble making click. Which means the inverted flight isn't going very well at all yet either. I'll just have to keep practicing until it hopefully starts coming together in my mind.

Keep up the good work--the Nano CPS is a great teacher! After being stalled for months, I am now progressing very quickly with the nano.

Did servo servicing on my nano #3 a few days ago, flied it in the backyard this morning, felt the cyclic input is cleaner and smoother. After a few crashes the collar on the main shaft dislocated. Totally out of control on the grass, the rotor kept spinning with TH activated, it had this problem before. Oh man #3 has sustained so many crashes since i got it, i suspect the board could be damaged. am running out of HP blades, used Bullet blades on #3 but not very comfortable with them, FFF is absolutely locked in straight as an arrow, but I feel there is slight delay during flips and rolls. I have tons of microheli HP blades on their way to our door.

Grabbed my #4, had 16 flights, still practice stationary flip and roll in a controlled manner, some nose in inverted hover too. Till i feel im good enough I wouldn't progress to all orientation inverted hover. Then the sun was too bright it was too hot outside. So I brought #4 inside, practiced upright hover in all orientations and slow circles in the dinning room.

I envy you. My pit & boxer would watch it take off and then eat it when it hit the ground. No indoor RC for me unless I put the dogs out.

Now the cats, I could harass them if the dogs weren't around.

Looks really good.
But why are the left/right servo links at such extreme angles?
And what was modded on the swash?

Trex 150 has 120 degree swashplate. But nano cps has 140degree swash. So I i bent aileron swash arms to make it close 120 degree. That is why the servo pushrods looks like that.

I don’t have any cameraman at this moment. But will try to do it later. I had main brushless nano cpx with stock board. After I built this bird, i sold the nano cpx. Because this one flies 100% better. Has true piro comp, can hover one position for long time with or without any inputs.

Actually, i am on another project now. I bought 150 grs board and will mount it on nano cpx frame. Will be double brushless also. Because new features the grs offers, quite excited with it.

I see you're a fan of the 150X grs. So, what was your experience like with the 150X helis? Just wondering because I've thought for a long time about picking one up.

I set a new record for hands off (right stick) piros.. 1 minute 10 seconds. I didn't bother counting.
