Default Logo800 Tail case bearings.

Fixing a crashed 800 for a friend. Can’t figure out why the cases won’t come together. Wrong bearings or wrong tail shaft?

Good Afternoon

I removed some of the plastic on the shaft to get it to fit.

I just compared the build diagrams from the new 700 vs the one from the original 700XX. Although your thread is referencing the 800XX tailbox, I think they are the same as the 700XX. I don't see any depiction on the 700XX diagram for the bearings that fit into the tail box for the shaft like on the new 700.

On the new 700 they are listed as 6 x 13 x 5, but on the diagram, they don't appear to be symmetrical. It appears that the inner race extends out of the outer race on one side when looking at it on edge in the diagram. If the bearings are not symmetrical, placing them into the housing reversed could mean the assembled dimension will be smaller which could cause the tail shaft to not fit. You might simply try reversing the direction of the bearings and check to see if it fits.

I have always thought that there was no difference in the sides of bearings, but maybe there is, from looking at the drawing in the manual. Of course it could just be the drawing that is incorrect. Also, I don't know why they have omitted the bearing sizes in the manual as well.
