Because XT30s have "open" style cups, I find they handle 14awg just fine.

I would add some extra servo horns. Lynx part # LX1097. They are designed to slip, but I find they break more, which I am okay with. They develop play over time after slipping a few times.

Also, don't get more than one pack of main shafts. It's the same diameter as the Oxy 3 shaft, very tough for this size heli. I have replaced 1 after about 1100 flights and it was only because I wasn't sure.

1100 flights! that would take me 2 years, even if i would only fly the oxy 2

on the other hand, this one should always be in your car, ready to go. maybe I will fly this more than my big birds
Still waiting for nice weather though...

What pinion are people running on the 1911-3600 on 3s? It seems by the head speed Calc that is a very small range with each pinion choice. I'd like to use that motor for sport flying and learning real 3D.

Thanks
Arthur

Make it easy on yourselve, i would recommend you use the

so -called "Essential" setup combo Luca put together, it works for all skill levels.

That's a decent setup, for a good price!

I am using the 12t. It is true that for every increase in pinion size it only gets you a little more, but the sizes take you all the way to 5k+ headspeeds. Just pick that one that gets you just above where you want to fly.

For sport type flight my guess would be comfortably around 3000-3200 and this would still give you enough for loops, rolls. For inverted it would require good collective management. A 10 or 11t should be good, assuming you have slant gears/pinions. I would recommend an 11 or 12t. 12t will give you a little more range and max speeds up around 3700.

Did we establish whether Arthure is building a 190 or 210?

Also @Arthure, the HS range for a given pinion is broader than it looks. That "range" in Mr Mel is for optimal governed performance. You can fly a little above it (disable gov on the calc to get an idea of the high end) and quite far below what Mr Mel shows. I expect, for example, that the usable governed range for the 3600kV on 3s and 12t is going to be between 3000 and 4000. (The exact range will differ between 190 and 210.) That range will be great for the 210, but probably lower than you want for the 190.

I bought the 15t pinion (and you get the 17t too in the same package) since i want around max 5000 rpm headspeed. I'm not a smacker but the oxy just asks for it

Mr mel gives me these results with that setup:
Quote:
Lowest RPM (due to voltage and efficiency) : 4572

For + performance, keep req. RPM below: 4732
For target performance, keep req. RPM below: 4921
For - performance, keep req. RPM below: 5063

It depends so much on which version you have and how you want to fly. The 190 is great for sport and smooth 3D as low as 4200, and will do almost anything you could ask at 4700. For serious smack you probably do want 5000+.

The 210 will do smooth 3D at 3600 and can certainly go lower.

Thanks everyone in waiting on a Oxy 2 FE 210 mains. Looking to do sport and mild 3d. I'm not anywhere ready for hard core smack.

Not looking to fly at 5000rpm unless it needs it. I was thinking a 12 or 14. As long as its not to low to put the motor into bog range. Is like the lowest stable head speed for flips rolls and inverted mostly.

Thanks again.

Arthur

I need to stay away from the Classifieds! So after all your help and my careful planning, I blew it and impulse bought a used 190 FE Oxy 2.

It's got the servos and engine I was planning but with a Castle ESC and V1 ubrain in it. Plan to go through it completely and then decide if I upgrade to the uSpirit down the road. I'm excited to get it and I also get to plan my 2nd Oxy.

Not a bad thing if you got a deal. If you don't have build experience this is what you miss out on. The build part is usually easy, but it is fun to install all the trons and get it all working together which can throw some for a loop if you have never used a pitch gauge to setup a head or programmed a FBL or ESC.

You can always buy another

Yeah, I enjoy that kind of thing, so that is a downside of the deal. Heck I'll probably take it apart to put back together again, just to make sure it's right.

My other hobby is off-roading a heavily modified jeep and I do all my own work. I find it a huge advantage to know every inch of a build, it's much easier to spot and correct any issues.
