Default Wren 44i max amperage draw?

What would be the max battery amperage draw for a Wren 44i during engine start? The Xicoy manual indicates the FADEC generally tries to keep the current below 12 amps during the start-up sequence. But due to the relatively small size of the Wren 44i, I was wondering if it perhaps uses even less max amperage.

The reason I ask is that I use Jeti, and was considering using their DPS 40 double pole electronic switch for the engine/FADEC and FBL/Servo Lipo packs (Jeti Electronic Switch Dual with Magnetic Key DPS 40). Each pole of of that switch handles 10 amp continuous and 20 amp burst. Would a 10 amp continuous / 20 amp max switch circuit on one of those poles be adequate for the engine/FADEC/pump side?

No idea on current draw, but a simple way to determine that would be to wire up a shunt in a harness, plug that in between the motor and the ECU and put a meter on it during a start sequence. 20A shunts are available on Ebay for $3-4.

Please post your results if you do the shunt thing. You got me curious.

Well, that could be awhile. I haven't even ordered the turbine yet. I've just been reading the Wren and Xicoy manuals on line and planning for my build. I'm just asking questions now that will help determine my eventual set up and what accessories I need to purchase.

Hi.

Check this story : https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=684494

I think that you will not have any issue using this Jeti switch.

At the end, Dennis Ferrari checked consumption : a quick spike to 5/6A at the very beginning and then around 3.5A while spinning at regime speed..

Its something very normal to me.. but i could take a measurement too.. i will let you know when i have it.

Wow, Dennis. Good find! Thank you. Yes, the Jeti DPS-40 switch looks like it would work perfectly amperage wise. Would there be a good spot for the switch on your new conversion frame?

As long the T700XZ Turbine Conversion will be produced on demand, we can do any customizations we want..

No worries..
