If you're Disney you do, but that doesn't have anything to do with fighting the repeal of 336.

No-fly zones over Disney parks face new scrutiny

Amazon proposes drones-only airspace to facilitate high-speed delivery

"Amazon is proposing that a pristine slice of airspace above the world’s cities and suburbs should be set aside for the deployment of high-speed aerial drones capable of flying robotically with virtually no human interference."

https://www.theguardian.com/technolo...ckage-delivery

Anyone think limiting our activities to 200ft is a good idea?

at this point, i’d take 200 ft over none at all.

it seems the longer we fight the more we lose.

We can fight this as grownups that play with toys that fly or we can fight this as property owners that get to decide what comes over our property, at least at close range.

Somehow I think there are a lot more people that don't want delivery drones in their yard than people that play with toy planes and helps.

(b) Use of Airspace.—(1) The Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration shall develop plans and policy for the use of the navigable airspace and assign by regulation or order the use of the airspace necessary to ensure the safety of aircraft and the efficient use of airspace. The Administrator may modify or revoke an assignment when required in the public interest.
(2) The Administrator shall prescribe air traffic regulations on the flight of aircraft (including regulations on safe altitudes) for—
(A) navigating, protecting, and identifying aircraft;
(B) protecting individuals and property on the ground;
(C) using the navigable airspace efficiently; and
(D) preventing collision between aircraft, between aircraft and land or water vehicles, and between aircraft and airborne objects.

This only allows the FAA to guide fullscale aircraft AWAY from these objects....not to guide land and water vehicle and "airborne objects..(RC toys)" away from aircraft. RC Toys are not aircraft and do not fall under these FAA rules.

From the looks of that graphic, Amazon wants 400ft of airspace all the way up to airports. What, no 3 mile safety zone for full scale aircraft?

On the other side, they want suburban AND rural airspace, with designated safe areas for model flying? Nice try.

Here's an idea: give Amazon and their ilk no airspace; they can use UPS and FedEx instead.

There is no justification for people to have to worry about packages blowing in the wind hundreds of feet above them, when they could instead be safely tucked away in a van. Package delivery and drone operations are not worth the endangerment of airport traffic and infringement of civil liberties currently enjoyed by model flyers and property owners.

People will despise corporate drones flying over their property all the way down to ground level, when they can't even legally do the same with one of their own. Air deliveries will only serve to bring more noise to quiet neighborhoods, serious safety issues and invasions of privacy. It would be dumb, dumb, dumb to give these companies our airspace!

I was inspired by this guy....

So screw the AMA. Screw Congress...

Want to fight Amazon? Someone near any delivery drone testing areas, Call PITA and report Amazon for nearly clipping a Bald eagle... looked like an Amazon delivery drone... what? Is anyone else doing delivery drone testing? Oh man... what about the endangered birds we don't recognize as easily as a Bald Eagle? This is serious.

Few calls like that and they'd either:

A - Have to build that expensive AI anyway to avoid birds that will never have a transponder. (and likely leave us and 336 alone...)

Or

B - Get protested out of the airspace anyway...

They're based in Silicon Valley... PITA is virtually a God there.

We need to start buying our politicians. Everyone should donate 100k to each of their Senators and Reps. That's what Amazon does. What, can't afford it - then we will probable lose. Remember, in the USA little people do not count.

Another interesting fact that is coming out is this; where are the manufacturers on this? I see no comments, adverts, opinions or whatever from the Distributors, radio manufacturers, motor and esc manufacturers or kit suppliers. If this thing goes South, they go with it.

Somewhere about two thirds through this is the statement the FAA has registered over 1,000,000,000 operators. Say what, they must be kidding. The entire population of the US isn't even close to that number.

They wont be there the same way offroad vehicle mfgrs (Jeep, Toyota, Honda , Yamaha, Kawasaki etc.) abandoned the public in the fight for open lands and let the eco-terrorists like Sierra Club and Center for Biological Diversity and BLM win.
They will just build another product line.

You also need a license to drive, but that doesn't stop people.

Agree. 'Donor' money definitely needs to be removed from politics.
