Wow...talk about sticker shock, $499!?!?. The price is very high considering it is just a kit.

That for a kit ? Looks like it's gonna be another very short lived product at that price.

I thought maybe it was going to be around $399 not $499 for just the kit.

Exactly, $399 and the normal sales down to the low 300s would have made it interesting. At this price, Goblin 500 for me please.

Seems like Blade are aiming to price on a par with higher end brands like SAB, Mikado, Synergy etc rather than their traditional competitor Align. Although it looks like a really nice heli I can’t see Blade having much success at this price point. I’d have thought that they would have learned this lesson with the 550, 600 and 700X models .

They could have at least included a motor and esc like they did with the fusion 270 arf i bought the arf version for £245.00 because i already had enough servos and fbls in my parts box so it was a cheap build for me

I love blade helis thats all i fly but sometimes they make my arse wink with the lack of logic ..... and its blue i hate blue canopies sorry i dont mean to offend anyone

500 is def too high. thats comparable to synergy 516, Gaui X5 Formula, XL Power 520, Goblin 500 Sport etc.

400 and it would likely sell decent. Looks like a BA airframe.. i too dont like the canopy colors.. too hard to see w deep blue. should have kept regular fusion 270 color scheme or something more visible. Will be nice w aftermarket canopy one day. 500 tho.. i will take a new synergy 516 or goblin 500.

And with HH not using beastx anymore.. i am curious what any bnf version would consist of. An ar636 w forward programming?

even with that you are looking at 800 price tag.

maybe black Friday at 350 for barebones kit.

No BNF version....

Why blue?...

I only fly blade. I guess I have to move to something different.

Very disappointed.

I agreed with others.

Price is too high for just frames...
maybe,,,, HH thinks it's 2x the scale size of 270 with price tag of $249 without the electronic's...so why not go for $499??

While I do think that a price of even $450 would sell way more units, I don't think the price is all that bad.

I mean sure, the Goblin sport is $490, but then you have to buy main and tail blades. Switch brand blades would add $77. So now you're at $567 for a kit.

I think most people think of cheaper plastic framed beginner helis like the 230S when you hear the brand Blade, but this looks like a pretty high end kit if you look at all of the little details.

I'll be checking it out at the Horizon RC Fest tomorrow, and I'm excited to see it in person. I'm also hoping to see one fly with Spektrum's new $50 heli servos that they just announced. James Haley says it flies extremely well with them. This would be fairly cheap way for an experienced pilot to get into larger helis. Most eplacement parts are likely to be cheaper than a Goblin or other high end heli as well.

$500 kit
$200 servos
$100 motor
$67 esc

In the handful of new videos on this heli yesterday, the canopy seems to be VERY visible in my opinion.

It all boils down to what YOU like. If everyone liked the same thing, then there would only be one company. There's no reason to bash a person or a brand just because they like or do something that you do not prefer. That's a good way to hurt the hobby, rather than promote it. We need to leave our ego out of the hobby and support new people and new models.

With that said, obviously customer feedback is important, but no single person or company in the history of the world will ever make everyone happy.

Lets get out there and fly and have fun no matter what you choose! I'm not a fan of clone products, but I suppose if that's what it takes for someone to buy their very first RC model before dumping a lot more money for name brand, then I suppose I could live with that. I'm not going to turn my nose to them, but help them get going and enjoy it!

The Fusion 480 will likely be my next helicopter, and then a Goblin 570 Sport after that. I have it all planned out, lol...

The Goblin is a bigger heli, takes up to 520mm blades so is a 'true 500'.

Even if you think price compares 'on a level playing field' to the Goblin how many are going to choose a Blade over a Goblin? Sure some hardcore Blade fans might do, but enough to make the heli a success, I dont think so.

Surely the Trex 500X is a more realistic competitor to a Blade heli, similar spec and same size. The 500X can be had with servos, ESC and motor for $550.. The Blade will be $867 using your own prices for electronics.. That's not just a big difference, it's a chasm.

PS.. for $875 you can get the Goblin 500 'combo' with Scorpion motor, KST servos and a Hobbywing ESC! Personally I'd say that was a 'no contest' compared to the Blade.

I agree with that. The reason I mentioned the goblin was the fact that I saw someone else (maybe in another thread) compare the two. As far as the $875 goblin combo goes, I havenít seen those in stock anywhere for a long time, or else I would likely already own one.

I also agree that Goblin is probably always going to be considered higher end than a Blade, but maybe this model will change that? Iím not saying it will, just being hopeful for Horizon hobby I guess. Maybe I like to root for the under dog? Haha.

I see on another thread a possibility of a 550 stretch kit is already mentioned by Horizon rep.
To me if this heli is capable of running 550mm blades (and i cant see why not) then Horizon would be been better to release it as either a 'true' 500 (up to 520mm blades) or go the whole hog and put the 550 stretch kit on it right from the off. The cost of a slightly longer boom is zero yet it would make it look much better value at the price point they are trying to sell it at.

Anyway, i really do think this looks like a very nice designed heli and I hope it's a success.

Nice to know about the pre-assembly done since I didn't see it mentioned anywhere. I could have missed it.

From Brian Bremer in the other thread:

"This is a partially assembled kit, i.e. the head is mostly assembled so you have to pull the spindle screws, apply locktite and reassemble. The samples took us less than two hours to assemble, so probably 4 hours reading instructions."
