Default Blade 400 Spares

Hello all!

I've just bought a used Blade 400 3D and currently preparing it (and myself) for a return to CP flight.

The helicopter was 45 with a DX6i, so I simply couldn't resist. However, I am concerned that I'm really going to struggle with getting spare parts together to form a crash kit; namely the main shaft, feathering shaft and flybar.

Is there anywhere you can purchase these critical parts still (UK preferred) or am I outta luck with a 12 year old heli?

Further, If I bought a 450 kit, would I be able to use the 400's electronics (then eventually replace the weak links such as servos, gyro, esc etc.)?

Best regards,
Mike

Most of the parts are still available here in the US but I'm not familiar with the UK suppliers. One very hard part to find anymore is the main shaft. If you want to keep flying it you might want to buy up used ones when you can which is what I did.

The last set of main shafts I saw for sale was on Amazon here and those are now gone.

Can you post a picture or give the dimensions of the B400 main shaft?

I have 3 shafts and 2 collars that came in unmarked bags that are shorter than the 450X main shaft

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I guess I'll have to make sure I hammer the simulator and don't crash it!

I do wonder if I could find someone locally to make some up with the original as a template.....

Thanks.

I can't right now as I'm on my way to Scotland for a scuba diving trip. A quick Google only tells me they're 4.75mm dia. But no length info.
I do have to replace the main gear when I return next week, so I figure I can measure it up then.

My post requested the info from BrokeDad...

So let's see what he comes back with and I will compare his measurements to what I have

I measured my spares quick with a ruler and it looks like 134mm in length. They are shorter than the 450 main shaft. Sorry I had to dig through my big box of B400 parts.

I was also interested in the length from ends to the holes

The center of holes are 7mm and 9mm from the end (note I'm not using a micrometer just a ruler). Hope that helps.

After some serious digging online I've managed to bag some spare main shafts, main gears and feathering shafts.
I do really appreciate you looking in to this though.

Further research now makes me want to upgrade the cyclic servos, tail servo and gyro.

I've looked on the forums for advice, but much of it seems outdated now. Could you kindly advise of up to date options on these items?

Should I be creating a new topic on this?

Cheers,

Mike

I have a massive amount of spares for the Blade 400 which I am looking to sell
I’m also selling my B400 with the upgrades you mention. Servos and gyro!

Could just be my lucky day!

I'd be grateful if you're willing to PM me your mobile number so we can have a chat about it?

Cheers

Thank you both for looking in to this for me.

It seems that there are still parts out there (thankfully!) though head parts are understandably rare I think.

I'm currently recovering from a bout of decompression sickness (minor thankfully) following a dive trip to Scotland, so I'll look in to this (and get back to you Kev) as soon as I'm a bit more with it!

I did manage to get some new savox servos and a quark gyro earlier which will hopefully make the bird solid once I do eventually take her up 😊

Update....

With a bit of persistence and a little luck, managed to bag a fair few bits and pieces.

If I had another ESC, I could build a second B400 no problem!

Nice lot. A few years ago it was like people were giving B400's away but not anymore. The main shaft it seems is the hardest part to find now and the 450 ones aren't the same.

Cheers.

Slowing down on spares buying for now, but will definitely keep an eye on eBay etc. I have the feeling that there are plenty of parts just gathering dust in people's garages, tool boxes and the like.

Next thing I need is a decent charger and more batteries!

Oh, and to master rotary-winged flight..! 😂
