Default 130s flies backwards in stability mode

I’m a new 130s owner and new to cp helicopters. Out of the box my 130 had a tendency to tip right on take off and would blade strike without lots of left aileron to compensate. Once in the air it hovered quite well.

To make takeoffs a bit less scary, I had a go at leveling the swash plate using the blades together method. This did help takeoffs, but in the air in instabillity mode it now tries to fly backwards constantly. Switching to intermediate mode, it flies well, switching back I had to duck as it went back to flying backwards again.

I’ve tried several trim flights, initally that did seem to help but the backwards flying returned. I’ve tried taking off on non level surface tipping it forward half a bubble on my bullseye level, with no noticeable effect.

What is a trim flight training it to do?

Testing the balance, it is very tail heavy which I think is normal for a 130s. I did investigate adding weight, but to balance it out would need 30g at 50mm from the main shaft, which seems too much to add.

With this balance issue, should the swash be level? Or should it be set to counter this imbalance?

Have I not leveled it properly?

Do you think a calibration would help?

Sorry for all the questions. I really want to understand what I’m doing and what I’m doing wrong.

Default Sorted

I’ve solved it. A calibration and a couple of trim flights has sorted it. Itks flying great now in stability and agility. Even takeoffs are a easy now too,

Make sure all the trims in your transmitter are zero. See instruction manual for TX if you're unsure how to do this on an RTF radio. (Listen for the special beep I think?)

After setting all trims to zero, you will likely need to do another trim flight.

Good luck!
