Default New Nano S2

Has anyone played with the new Nano S2 yet?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=anxqoAPAERg

It would be nice if it was more like the original CPx Nano (mostly problem free).

Mine CPs wasn't messed up out of the box, but I don't think it lasted 150 flights and the board is shot.

It's in pre-order status right now.
Hopefully the new control board will be a lot better than the cps.

It's a shame they didn't improve the landing skids, I can't believe they used the same crappy ones they have been using on the previous nanos. Maybe someone there will make a change in the material used.

I was also very unimpressed with the CP S landing skid. But there’s an easy mod that reduces breakability. I read about it here somewhere. Get some electrical tape and connect the left and right skids together. That way during a hard landing they don’t flex in a way that makes them break.

I also hope they fixed that annoying twitch. You know the one I’m talking about.

On the parts page the swash looks to be the same as the CP S. In other words, I hope the Microheli upgrade fits.

Most of the cpx and cps parts are supposed to be interchangeable.

Looks to be the same for the CP S —> S2 changeover. That’s both good and bad. Good for availability and using old spares. Bad for durability; I wish they’d make some parts stronger. But it is very light; can’t win everything I guess.

The CPS is a great stick-trainer, usually just bounces off the grass. But they should definitely offer updated brushless motors for this heli.

Even when the CPS was a new release, most of the optional parts remained discontinued on their site, and they never even bothered to upgrade the CPX brushless upgrade. I think this was a mistake! And, I hope this new Nano S2 inspires them to get their act together!

For some reason, it keeps getting forgotten that it's not only beginners that like micro-helis. Many intermediate pilots need a good high-performance micro-heli, too! This need will only increase as more and more regulations are put onto the hobby.

Well, my indoor flying season comes to an end in April.

I guess I'll just read all the reviews, and if they're good, get one next fall.

I don't know why I care. but check out the 3-in-1 flight board. It is branded nCP S V2. Maybe that was the name of the heli first when HH's branding team wanted to capitalize on the 230 S "V2" success before they settled on Nano S2?

I guess "Nano CP S V2" really does look like a bunch of random letters.

Somehow I find this interesting.

I'd be interested to see just how much different this will fly versus the CPX and CPS. I still fly my CPX all of the time and it is my go-to model for learning new maneuvers and staying fresh on the sticks.

I'm a bit disappointed that Blade would release an updated version and still not include a brushless main motor at the very least. I would assume they will release a brushless upgrade in the future but yet again it seems we will be stuck with a brushed tail motor.

Seems like HH thinks we need, yet, more beginner-level helicopters. I keep posting, to no avail, that there is a growing need for intermediate-level micro-helis that can compete with the Trex 150X. Oh well, maybe once more regulations kick in ...

+1 brushless motor. Tired of replacing these.

I have really enjoyed my NCPS. I did upgrade the frame, landing gear and swash so it is almost indestructible now. I have never had a tail blowout like the MCPX did and it will handle winds up to 10 mph! Don`t have to go anywhere to fly it either. I was going to get another cps but now I might wait and see what the difference is with the S2

I too was going to order a new cps but will wait and see how the new control board works out and if all is good maybe order one in the fall to fly in the house till spring. I have a few cps and cpx here for parts use.
Time will tell.

The video tells about a much improved flight system including piro comp programmable limits on altitude change. Almost seems like it might even have an altitude hold feature.

IF I can run a brushless setup in it, I'll definitely buy one. Otherwise I'll just keep hammering on my CPS and wait until they make a factory brushless Nano heli.

Yea, I wish Blade or somebody would come out with a micro heli with brushless motors on it. I have a FPV quad with some pretty small brushless motors on it so maybe that wish will soon be real.

It shares the same motor as the CPS / CPX so I would assume that the brushless motor from the CPX would work. Since the board has been mounted vertically on the S2 it should make the brushless kit for the CPX a good fit. Of course only time will tell.

Got mine yesterday and had it setup on my DX8 following the instructions in the manual. For some reason I couldn't get it to fly or even hover smoothly in the 2 stability modes. My work around is take off at mid stick in idle-up 2; once it's up in the air it's very stable and very smooth. The cyclic roll rates with zero expo and 100% DR are just about perfect for some nice flipping and definitely no tail blow out. Have yet to find out what the story is with the stability modes though.
