Talking Recommendation: Choosing from the 550 Family

Hey guys,

As soon as my Oxy 4 Max sells, I am going to buy something from the Logo 550 family. This is a bit nostalgic for me, as my first Logo models were the original Logo 10 3D and then the Logo 500 (at which point I was a Mikado USA field rep for the year). Obviously, many years have passed!

Currently I have a Goblin 570 Sport and Goblin 380 KSE. Both are running Xnova/Hobbywing. This will be my 2nd large heli for flying at the club. I want a second machine that can run the 6s 5000 packs from the 570. What I don't want is a machine that flies exactly the same as the 570 Sport. Variety is the spice of life!

For this reason, I plan on running either a Scorpion or Kontronik drivetrain, but I am curious what you guys think for the specific model. Should I run with the upgraded 550 (new full metal head), or go for the 550 SE V2 with the full 600mm blades and beautiful yellow/blue scheme? This will certainly pop really well and have an amazing smoothness (plastic frame and grips, stretched 550 feel).

Ideas? Thanks!!!

As I haven't flown a 550 SE I cannot comment. A stretched model that could be on the cusp of being a pack killer.

I don't think the metal blade grips brings anything to the party however the V3 does have the better swash. The V3 has a bigger canopy.

The only thing metal blade grips do is raise the crash cost by significant digits lol. Both plastic and metal have the exact same geometry so theres actually no benefits from going metal. The 550 on 6S is pretty good specially with VTX 557s, an efficient combination for sure. The 550SE weighs a bit more, and if you plan to run more than 1800rpm it will be tough on your lipos if you go 6s because of the extra weight & 600mm blades but it should be alright if you want it for sport flying or "light" 3D.

I flew the 550se for years on 6s with 600mm blades and it was surprisingly easy on packs. You need to keep the head speed around 2000. Also keep in mind itís not a 3D smack machine on 6s with 600mm blades. It excels in big air and light 3D in that config. It will do smack 3D but you will kill the packs.
