Default Is This Typical of Horizon Hobby's Service Now

Some time ago, I bought an mCPS directly from HH's website. The controller broke down after 22 flights. Accordingly, I wrote to HH requesting service. Here was their reply.

Thank you for contacting Horizon Hobby.

If you have 22 flights warranty would not apply. Warranty is valid if the product was defective right out of the box and you could not fly it. You have had 22 flights which would not be considered warranty. You will need to consider purchasing a new main board.

These control boards aren't cheap. After all, FBL controllers such as Ikon offer a one year warranty. Is this typical of HH's service, or are they victimizing me because I am not based in the US?

No, you are not being singled out. Look in the users manual, it will probably say something like it’s covered by warranty on the day of the sale, until you open it, or fly it, or something. Meaning if it’s broke when you first take it out of the box then you have a case. If it's not and you fly it the warranty ends basically. Been that way for a long long time unfortunately.

Some of their individual components have a 1 year warranty - case in point, the G110 gyro that came installed on the original Blade 400. I bet they replaced TONS of those under warranty too

Yea - they told me the same on the MSR s ... they assume you crashed it and thats why it stopped working is what they told me.


They used to be super helpful and send you free parts and stuff but that seems to have ended...


They are quite big now (horizon hobby) they own all kinds of companies. They have been on a big buying spree for a few years now.
