I am curious: Why does the ESC have no better plug soldered on from factory than the red JST-BEC (e.g XT30)?

Why are so many quads (e.g 200QX) and 230s (even the V2) shipped with that limited JST plug?

We all know that we are not allowed to do any modifications like changing plugs (even at the cable end) as this would void warranty.

"Fusion 180 has 20a esc but 10a jst connector" (and my own experience twice): https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...75#post7774575

Agree with the XT30 ...

The warranty is done the minute you fly it once, so no worries there about changing connectors.

The manual calls out 3S though. Maybe it's dual lipo capable without mods?

Interesting that they've increased the blade length from 155 mm to 180 mm. And they pushed the weight up to 240g. So, now it's a proper 180-sized heli that falls just below the regulations threshold.

Although this new Fusion 180 is nearly at the size of my two 190 mm Oxy2s, I am super glad that manufacturers are coming out with advanced micro-helis that can really perform well.

Is that a boom-mounted servo I see?! Thank god. Enough of that annoying adjusting-the-push-rod-when-adjusting-tail-belt-tension business like the Fusion 270.

Wow this looks great! I think I will definitely be getting one of these to add to the fleet Keep up the good work, Blade!

Looks nice and I am glad Blade released this but if you own an Oxy2 there is no need for this.

Default Blade Fusion 180 BNF - BLH5850 (belt-driven tail, MG servos, 4s)

Since this is sub 250g, I will buy this over the oxy2. That said, the temptation to install a better ESC and FBL (brain2 micro) will be strong.

How does one accurately measure blade pitch on something this tiny?

Im surprised Blade came out with a 180mm instead of updating/upgrading the 155 sized 180CFX. The 180mm puts them head to head with the 190 Oxy2. Does Blade think theyll win that battle?

I still fly a Lynx 180CFX because its quite a bit smaller looking than the Oxy2. It seems to attract less attention. When you need to fly stealth, every little bit helps. Ill be interested in seeing how big this is compared to the 180CFX and Oxy2.

AFAICR I was not not on 100% travel for max/min pitch with the NanoCPX.

Basically you measure the blade length a, and the distance b between the two blades and then you will get the degree pitch from the calculated algorithm table.

German description and illustration picture: https://www.heli-planet.com/pitchrechner.html

Sorry this article is in German and I do not know of any other English guide.

Sometimes you find other people posting their b mm distance between the blades and suggestions like 30-35mm, 40mm, not more than ~45mm.
This is how I did it first on the K110 and it worked out of the box (even with inverted flight) without too much bogging down the 1s motor.

Even works on a Nano heli: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...63#post7751821

It is worth noting, however, that this new 180 is about 2 inches shorter than the Oxy2 and falls just under the 250g threshold, which is desirable. Also, the 180 is BNF, and thus cheaper than the Oxy2 to get airborne.

For at least these reasons, this new 180 is appealing. I had hoped they would update the 155mm version, but that would be a Fusion 150, which I don't remember anyone actually asking for. Lol.

Who knows, maybe a Fusion 130 is in the cards.

Note that it says the heli uses 3S 11.V batteries in the manual whereas the web page and video says 4S.

https://www.horizonhobby.com/pdf/BLH5850-Manual-EN.pdf

Both 3S and 4S batteries are listed as optional parts. If indeed the ESC is dual 3S/4S compatible, I wonder how will that work out. Surely, there is a huge difference in headspeed between 3S and 4S using the same motor with the same pinion?

I saw on fb, a recommendation by HH to change to the older 180cfx motor if 3S is desired.

Blade just did a Q and A video today and stated that the fusion 180 is way under powered with 3S. Running 3S out of the box is not an option.

There are third party motors available for the 180CFX that are more powerful. It is a pity that the Lynx EOX 1611 is no longer available for the 180CFX. Otherwise, I am sure it will give the 4S Fusion a good run for the money. Blade could have easily used a more powerful 3S motor than having to go 4S. I am very reluctant to buy a new series of batteries and a parallel charging board just for this helicopter.
