Default Pinion seperated !

Managed to get out flying today, its been a while, but the Logo 700 was on point as usual.
All of a sudden loss of power (well drive really) and an emergency auto down.
On investigation the herringbone pinion had split and stripped the main gear good and proper.
Damage was limited to manger, pinion, undercarriage cross member and a nice dink in the boom from the tip over at the bottom.
Thank goodness the VTX survived, but rather anoyed the pinion failed.
Any one else had this issue? is it something I need to raise with Mikado?

The exact same thing happened to mine (13t pinion) almost 2 years ago. I thought they had a bad batch at the time. Maybe yours was one of them?

I'm glad your damage wasn't too severe.

Contact Mikado. They will send you a replacement.

Which I did, and based on when I bought the pinion (still had the email order) they confirmed it was likely from the faulty batch.
And then.........they offered to replace the pinion, maingear and any other bits that were damaged in the incident
Thats what you call great customer service and to be honest, why I fly and own most of the current logo's their fleet.
Top marks to Mikado

Proper customer service would have been to put a recall notice out there so that everyone was aware of the potential issue. Cheaper too to replace pinions instead of pinions and crashed helicopter parts. This is the first time I have ever heard about a bad batch of motor pinions.

I think thats a bit harsh.
I believe Mikado did deal with this when it occurred a couple of years ago, scrapping the whole batch the minute an issue was identified.
This is one of the few that probably slipped through the net.
I'm really pleased with Mikados response all things considered. Im not sure how many other major manufacturers would have dealt with it so well.

True to their word, pinion, maingear and a couple of other bits damaged in the forced auto turned up today. Great customer service imho.
