Default Blade 150S == 180CFS == updated 180CFX

The new Blade 150S could have been named the "180CFS". Most of the parts (including the CF frame, head, shafts and motor) are the same as the 180CFX - (this is why I am posting here in the 180CFX sub-forum). The main differences are:
  • The (3-bladed fixed pitch) tail rotor is now driven by a brushless motor rather than torque tube.
  • The CC Talon 15A ESC is gone, replaced with a new double brushless ESC that is running BLHeli 14.9 firmware, which features a governor that can be turned ON (but the gov is turned OFF by default).
  • The boom has been beefed up from 7mm to 10mm and the two 180CFX support rods are now gone.
  • The canopy has a much more sturdy build (9.1 gm vs 6.7 gm).
  • The FBL is an updated version - the AR6336A. It has some new features including rescue and "forward programming" that I have not yet investigated. Note that like the 230S, the SAFE modes can be turned off.
I just received mine yesterday and discovered that the main rotor ESC is, indeed, running BLHeli MAIN version 14.9 (and I assume that the tail is also running BLHeli). This, to me, is a very good thing! (I love the BLHeli governor) Here are the default settings as delivered:

Note that this is the good old BLHeli version 14.9 which has a governor. The newer versions of the firmware: BLHeli_S and BLHeli32 (which run on newer hardware), do NOT have a governor. I think Blade made an excellent decision here.

I've only had 6 (indoor hovering) flights so far, but my initial impressions are that I like it!

So far, its been getting some very promising reviews over on the RCG 150S thread
