Default RotorTech 610 Ultimate | Production Samples Test Flight

Heyho Helifreak,

it's been a while since I last posted about these blades, but I can finally bring you some great news: The RotorTech 610 Ultimate, which I have developed with Fun-Key, has gone into production!

The RT-610U has nothing in common with the current RT-610 except for the length- all other parameters have been adjusted to create a blade that produces a tremendous amount of collective lift and cyclic agility, still tracks well and autorotates excellently, doesn't need excessive RPM to fly and is extremely hard to stall in flight.

Here's a video with some impressions of the first production samples, including a new paint scheme, using an iridescent color that transitions from grey through purple to gold, depending on how the light hits it.

Nice flight! Got a 550se running the standard 610's, may have to grab a set of these. What kind of tuning would be necessary to switch to these?

Of course

These should be fantastic on nitro. Low cyclic loads and high lift even when it bogs. Go for it!

Same, this is essentially the 600 blade I've been wanting since I got my first 600 in 2011.

Not much tuning required. Leave it as is and you'll profit from the added lift and agility, you just may have to dial down your cyclic optimizer a bit and adjust your rotor gain down. Otherwise, these still are faithful to the RotorTech flying qualities, just able to deliver higher performance all around.

Same. Although I liked the orange tips on the RT-700, these look incredibly nice as well in flight and are way more visible, especially with the iridescent paint.

Thank you! I wasn't too keen on the flight, but I guess the blades made up for it.

Well, this heli solely exists for blade testing. That includes extensive autorotation testing, also beyond the blades' capabilities, resulting in, well, some harder landings leading to the blades contacting the boom. The blades generally survive this, and the boom damage is visual, structural integrity is pretty much unaffected.

From this testing I can also confidently say that the RT-610U beats all other 600 blades I have flown to date in almost every aspect. We put a ton of R&D into these to get there, and I think it really paid off.

I fly 626mm blades on my E5S and Soxos 600. Are they going to make them in 620mm ? Or would these have similar lift ?

As stated via PM, we'll discuss it once the RT-560U is done

An RT-620U isn't planned as of right now. The RT-610U is designed to deliver about as much lift as your conventional 620ish blade, and considering that its chord is wider than the Rail 626mm's, this should be approximately true in this case.

The advantage these will give you would be higher cyclic agility, given Rail blades are geared more towards stability. You'd have a slight increase in disk loading, but not a whole lot of difference in blade loading.

Here are some photos of the new blades. It's quite difficult to convey through photos how the new paint looks, but I think you get the idea.

How quickly do you expect these end up available for us mortals?
I love the look.

Good question. The blades went into production a while ago, turns out they're hitting the shelves very soon.
