Default Phoenix 5.5 replacement DVD

Recently I tried to install my Phoenix sim on to Windows 10; which ended up with many problems as my DVD version was an older one. I searched the Internet and never did find a single solution, but eventually, painfully, did get it to run.

In my search I saw that many people had problems, but those who had a later version DVD had much better success. I kept watching the Phoenix website in hopes of purchasing the version 5.5 DVD, but they kept saying there wasn't any available and keep checking back; which I did, but they still aren't available.

So I emailed them and asked when would these DVD's be available and their answer was they could not give me any idea when they would be available; but they gave me a link so I could download the files, which could then be burned to a DVD.

So here is the link: "ftp://[email protected]/Files/DVD/Phoenix DVD V5.5.zip"

It takes about two hours to download. Inside the zip file is not an iso file, but the actual files and folders on the DVD so you need to create a data DVD - it works!

Hopefully this will help others.

Thank you for posting this dchance.
I could not get my old 2.5 version working on windows 10. Used the link you received from Phoenix for v5.5. Did take just over 2hrs to download. Saved it to a new file on my spare external hard drive. Uninstalled 2.5 and loaded 5.5 to my lap top and it's all good. Thanks for posting this.

Cheers

I tried a few weeks ago and it wouldn't work. I just tried it again and it's downloading sloooowly as was indicated above. Copy and paste the link in the browser without the quotes. use "guest" for the password. Without the quotes of course.

I finally had success. Took almost an hour for 1.4gb on my 50mb Cox cable. Extracted and burned to DVD and it seems to work fine. Thanks for posting the link. Now if something goes kaput I don't have to install and go through all the updates from my original 4.0.

Thanks for the link.

I reinstalled windows 10 on my laptops last night and didn't want to go through all the versions to get up to 5.5 so it was a good find

Downloaded quite quickly (about 500kb/s)

Just burn them as a data DVD. I don't think it matters what you name it. I am going to use Phoenix DVD V5.5 the same as the download and folder.
You can use whatever program you prefer or just create an ISO image from the files once extracted. I won't mention program names as it is sure to start a debate on which burning/backup program is best.

I bought an original version 4 but this is nice in that it skips all those upgrade steps if I want it on a different PC. If the Phoenix creators hadn't hosted the link I wouldn't have downloaded it.

Thanks for sharing. I haven't used Phoenix in a very long time and I'm now running Widows 10. When I do re-install I'll use the link in the first post. Did a recent search and found my original Phoenix CD and have an idea where my dongle is hiding.

You don't need to create a DVD or burn anything.
Just download 5.5, unzip and run the .exe file and its installs.

I did this method and it works fine.

Default Alternative download link

In case the original link ever disappears, I've downloaded the file and made it available on my own server. It's a much faster download, too

Found the Edge browser in win 10 to be useless ! Have had no problem downloading V5.5 ,using Mozella Firefox (2.5hrs).
Just used the Expand function and then clicked on "setup".(no DVD)
Phoenix recognized that ver 3.3 was already loaded , even though it would not operate or even open and then informed me it would be upgraded to v5.5
Installed the latest upgrades Ok.
Working well.

Default Faster download Phoenix DVD V5.5.zip

Man that download was SLOW.

Since Phoenix doesn't seem keen to service their customers sufficiently, I've made the file available via public Google Drive link ...

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QUV...ew?usp=sharing

Enjoy.

They can sue me if they like, notwithstanding jurisdiction. But I would hope they would see this as a GOOD thing, surely?! It's not like the software can be used without the proprietary cable, right?
