Default Strike 7 Blade Sizes

So it looks like the max blade combinations with the Strike 7 should be ? Just to be sure.

710 / 116
696 / 120

I know 717's overlap with 115's, so run 697's with 115's or 116's, but it is only by a few mm. But yes, 710 with 116 will fit and I have used 716's with 112's, but that is right on the limit and will depend on the actual brands of blades as some are not exactly the length that is written on them.

The Strike7 is a very light weight heli, normally coming in just over the 5kg weight so actually flys light even with 69x size blades. Some of the factory pilots even use 685mm mains so the heli has a higher disc loading for better pop and lock. I have in the past always gone for larger main blades but have found its not needed at all with this heli, especially with the VTX blades which have more lift, it is already floaty with the 697's.

I think with 120's on the tail you might find the blades are the same length as the tail fin, while this is workable as the tail is raised while on the skids, you will need to be careful not to drag it on landing, so its not a recommended setup. I am working on an 800 (DB7 conversion with a TT) and I think I will have to get a longer tail fin made as I plan to try 120's on it for my low headspeed flying.

Great info !! Thanks Dennis

I have 696 / 116 on it now and it works great. I bought a set of 120 mm tail blades but I haven’t need them. I might try them someday. I will have to install them and see how much clearance there is. The Strike 7 is raked forward so the tail is of the ground.

Freeskiken, I run the same blade lengths are you, and I do not see the need to go any larger tail blades. I run around 2150 on the head, and full collective funnels in high wind I cannot get this tail to blow out. Stick with what you have.

It might be interesting to try the smaller mains, maybe I will finally get that blade fart stop that everyone else seems to be able to do.

Then again, probably not.

Ya I will probably just stay with the 696 / 116 blades. They work great so no need to change.

Although I may try the new Rotor Tech 700mm Ultimate blades when they get the new paint scheme.

So I have some VTX 717 mm main blades I may want to try at some point. I would be able to run them with 110 mm tail blades ? Would this work OK. Has anyone tried it ? Does it fly well with this combination?

They should fit, just, but I would double check interference once they are on the heli.

I normally like running bigger blades on my heli but I felt the 717’s were not my favourite on the Strike7 or DB7, but blades are really personal.

I thought maybe running the VTX 717 at low head speed.

I have some VTX 697 I could use as well and sell the VTX 717s.
