Default A few questions about the logo 600 sx

So I picked up a brand new just built bare bones sx version 1 for an excellent price at a funfly this past season. I just finished getting all electronics together for it and got it up on my bench. Here are my questions, what are the differences between the v1 and v2? also I atleast would like to have the battery tray, can I simply install the battery tray on to my v1?

batt tray wont fit the v1.. there is no locking pin in the frame of the v1.. spend the money, get the v2 frame and save the v1 for a possible crash set. especially if you haven't built it yet.
also I believe the v1's had the new vbar head with the washout arms integrated on the head. so its really just the tray and frame for the v2.

The heli is already built so I guess I will get the frames as an upgrade in the future. Are the battery installation really that cumbersome?

Not at all, V2 tray is silly.
Leave your 3 battery straps (2 front, 1 rear) on the heli. Just loosen them to allow packs to slide in/out. Then a small patch of velcro at front of chassis and a corresponding piece on front LiPo.

If I had V2 frame I'd still do it old way over strapping packs to tray and have to mess around with them when sharing on another machine.

V2 frame real advantage is room for larger packs (height and width)

Why would he do that? Fly the V1 frame, if you crash then get the new style if you want.
Put the straps on and find a good position that is easy to tighten then and loosen. Then add a few small dabs of Goop glue between the straps and the frame. This way when they are loosened they will not slide out of position and will make everything easily done each battery swap.
