Default YS engine with OS 61G Carb

Hi @ all,

i use an OS 61G Carburetor on my YS engines / 91-120.

On the YS120srx is it necessary to modified the cylinder head.

Works without any problems.

This is wonderful but I have asked you in the other post too, HOW do we buy the adaptor and the block off plate.

I can't find it anywhere on the website and I emailed them Monday Nov 4, 9:20 am to [email protected] . I asked them about the plate, I sent them the picture you showed of many plates manufactured. I did not receive any response.

How can we buy it ? ? ?

Hi,

the owner of rc-carbonstore.com works very hard each day.
I have spoken with him after a view days.

In some days are also pic. of the adapter set on his homepage.

I buy many of this adapter and backplate. I love YS with OS Carb.

Please to have patience!

You need a CARBURETTER RETAINER OS-29081720.
2x screws for the adapter him self and 4x screws for the backplate.

I was able to get in touch with them and order 20 sets. They informed me it takes about two weeks. I would be more than happy to sell you when they arrive. John S.

How much does this thing cost? I checked the website and could not find any information at all, no price, no photo, no mention of it whatsoever.

Well, the adapters finally arrived in the United States. I don't need all that I ordered and am willing to sell a few sets to anyone interested. Please send me a PM if you want a set. They are the carb adapter and the bottom plate as pictured. Thanks, John Serio (480)721-3851.

Can someone explain what exactly are the advantages to making this modification? Is it power, tuning, fuel economy?

With which YS engine models will this work?
Is the YS regulator and one way valve still used?

Honestly, I like the way my YS 91’s run stock. About the only negative thing I could say is they are very thirsty when it comes to fuel consumption. I would like to hear what this mod offers.

Thanks,
Todd

It's for people who are comfortable tuning a OS carb. I see no other benifits.

The YS 91 and YS 96 are good running engines with the carbs that they come with stock. The YS 120srx is a whole different story. They run great up to the mid range of the carb. The issue that I've had is from mid to full. They are really difficult to tune. The os carb solves that issue since it is a much finer tuning option. Then, with a 120 on your machine, it produces a ton of power similar to electric. I wouldn't make the mod on any other engine beside the 120.

The OS 61G is $143 USD on RC Japan.
Add in the cost of the adapter plate and the carburetor retainer (OS-29081720) and you are in the "ballpark" of $200 USD for the upgrade to the YS 120SR-X

This becomes a "cost / benefit" analysis.
This mod may or may not add more power, but it increases the cost of the motor ($361 USD on RC Japan) by about 50%.
The OS 105HZ-R ($430 USD on RC Japan) has less power than a stock 120SR-X, but is easier to tune.

I guess the question is:
Is the "natural" extra grunt, potential for more power and easier tuning from the YS 120SR-X with the mod worth the $80 difference?

The mod. can be used on YS91-120.
Every YS has with this mod. more power.

The problem on YS carb. is the Throttle Barrel....

Coast for me secondary. It is a hobby and i don‘t like to compromise.

Do you have a video with the 120 making more power ? It would be nice to see. The only vids I saw so far my 105 moves the helis faster than that without issues. I respect that it’s your flying your style but to cruise around nice and rich you don’t need to go through all this - but I still respect that too !!!

I understand you. On Vids is it not to see.
When you have a perfect pitchmanagement and 10-11° Pitch you can perform a 91 amazing.

But i love to move the sticks with 12-14° pitch and 8° cyclic.

Trust me! A 91 or 105 OS with my bad Pitchmanagent goes down.

I don‘t like the sound of engine when goes down.

Better much more power, as needed!

Hehehe in last short Video the Loops was with +12° Pitch and 8° Cyclic inputs.

12+8 = 20° the same with 14+8 possible.

Trust me. When you fly with my Powerhouse, you don‘t will other engines and to sell 12s Helis

Optifuel 30SLV

Damn i have at the Moment 4 YS120SRX Sky Edition Performance and 2 YS120SR Power Edition.

You are so fare away!
