Default 230S v1 update and test flight!!

Mornin folks..

About 2 years ago I picked up a 230S V1 used and loved it. I loved it so much it ended up in a huey fuselage and sits now cause I don't want to crash it! I bought it used and it was all set up and flew like a lets fast forward to today.

Well with the black Friday sales I found a brand spanky new one RTF for a nice discount so just ordered it. I missed my old one so much for indoors winter flying. Now if memory serves me correctly wasn't there some kind of file upgrade on them from Horizon that needed to be done first? Or was that just on the early models and the later ones already had a file upgrade installed?

Second,I remember something about you have to do a pre-flight hover test for 30 seconds or something like that before really using it. It was a calibration test of the sort. I cant find the links to you-tube to show how to do it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a good chance it doesn't need a calibration or a trim flight. Try it out first. The procedure is the same as the V2. Here is a link to the manual that has them:

The latest version is 4.36 for the V1 but if it flies ok I'd recommend leaving it alone. The version before is just fine.

The Firmware Update to V 4.36 changes nothing but the tendence to start drifting the swashplate before taking off. I would reccomend to update.
You need to register at spectrum RC and install the spektrum updater to copy the serial number of the FBL. Then download and update the Unit.
Only thing: If You want to do this, You need the USB programmer cable (SPMA3065) to connect the unit to Your PC.

Calibration usually is not needet. Trim Flight should be done whenever it does not hover in a spot in stability mode.
