Default Logo 550 with Jive Pro 80+ HV..?

What's up guys..

Picked up a new Logo 550 kit on Black Friday. Powering with the Xnova Lightening 4025-1120kv. What are your thoughts on using the Jive Pro 80+ HV?

Thanks,
Raz

It "should" be fine but maybe go bigger?
I have a HW 100 in my 480. Probably overkill?

How hot of an environment do you fly in?
I went with more headroom because my summers are easily 100F+

A KONTRONIK KOLIBRI 140 would be a better option.

I'm not much of stick banger. Mild, aerobatics without loss of power mainly. Thinking slower head speed, around 2000.

If you are flying on 6s then you don't need the HV version. The Jive 80 is more than sufficient for your flying style. You can't beat Kontronik for ease of setup and being bullet proof. Comes at a cost though.

The Jive Pro 80+ HV would be fine for a 12S setup, but the current demand for this helicopter on 6S may be a bit too high for this ESC to handle reliably. The Jive Pros are notorious for self protection and shutting down when the current is too high.

I'm thinking Jive Pro 80+HV because I have one new in box I purchased awhile back for a 10S build I sold off..

I actually have yet to purchase the motor, but the Xnova 4025-1120 was my first choice. I've thought about going with a lower Kv motor, thinking that may be the safer route with the Jive Pro 80+HV. However after talking with 3D Dave a bit last night, thinking I should be able to gear the 550 at 80% throttle for roughly 2200 in HS using either a 14 or 15 tooth pinion with the 1120Kv, then dial down the throttle % to find a HS of 2000 as the Jive should be plenty capable of supporting the lower throttle % without power loss through maneuvers.

I currently run a Jive 80HV+ with a heatsink on my 550SX using 6s. The motor is a Kontronik 600-12 with a headspeed at 1900-2100. I've never had an issue with overheating with mid-range 3D (70A peak), even when it's pushing 98 degrees and 80%+ humidity in summer. Kontronik ESCs seem to be overbuilt and under rated. I'd try the Kontronik and check the current pulled with a watt meter or jlog (if you can find one). That will tell you if an upgrade is warranted. Adding a heatsink also increases capacity.

Good luck!

This is how I installed the K. Jive Pro 120+ with heat sink on the Logo 550.

I installed the ESC with the motor wires coming out the front.

If I installed the heat sink facing up, it would rub against the canopy. So I cut a slit in the frame to accommodate the heat sink facing down.

First off the numbers don't stack up for the Xnova motor.

Continuous current 110Amps with continuous power of 3000Watts

W / I = V. 3000 / 110 = 27.2Volts

No matter what sums I do there is no pack that gives that voltage.

But in terms of whether the ESC is good enough I would say it is marginal at best and underrated.

As you are not a stick banger the Scorpion 4020-1100 is more than enough to give very good performance in the Logo 550 and the 80 ESC would be fine.
