Default 600SX Build Question

I'm working on my 600SX, and came across something I wasn't expecting. If I want to take the boom off, do I really need to remove my motor?

In order to remove the main gear from the main shaft, I need to completely remove the motor counterbearing. Since this is the only thing holding the motor in place, I now need to reset the mesh every time I want to remove the main shaft?

Am I missing something obvious?

Yes, you are. When you remove the motor screws, the counterbearing can come out in one piece- retaining the mesh in the distance between the bearings. There is no need to open the three M3 screws joining the pieces. Once you reinstall it, also in one piece, it will mesh just like before.
