Default Special Orders?

I was wondering if anyone has done a Special Order with Egodrift?

I’d like to order a 4025 with the longer shaft; on the product page it shows up to a 40mm long shaft with the standard (drop down menus) showing lengths of 23.5 and 32mm.

Picking the shaft size is not a special order, it's just an option you select when you order. Unless this is maybe a length that isn't offered?

As far as I understand it anyway.

The drawing on the site shows a 40mm option, the drop down selection only the two I mentioned above.

I see what you mean. Click on the contact us at the bottom of the page. They usually respond pretty quick. You could also send a messenger note on fb.

Which KV are you after? The Scale series 4025 Egodrift come with the 40mm shaft, but do contact Egodrift as suggested, they will be able to make exactly what you are after.

Default Standard 40mm shaft options for Tengu 4025/4035

Hi Jim,

the 40mm shafts were introduced with (and are the standard shaft in) our Scale Collection motors and of course they are available for / fit the regular "Tengu" motors just as much.

The 4025 diagram does in fact show the 40mm shaft option (just like the 4035 one), as the illustration applies to (and is used for) both model ranges (Tengu & Scale).

... and while we can of course assemble any 4025/4035 with 40mm shaft on demand, it might totally make sense to add the 6x40mm shafts as selectable options on the Tengu motors range if there are standard applications for them.

I'm told the oxy5 for example could benefit from the slightly longer 40mm shaft for a better fit with the counterbearing - so if you let us know which heli models (and stator/kV options) you think standard (selectable) options would be needed for, we can add them easily.

Looking forward to your feedback and thanks in advance,

Vincent

Hi Vincent,

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, the Oxy 5 with the extra support bearing is what I’m looking at.

I’m ready to order the 4025 with a 40mm shaft if possible, but just wondering how to do so.

Thank you so much,
Jim

Default New 40mm shaft option added to all 4025 models

Hi Jim,

first of all thanks a lot for your feedback and I'm happy to hear you wanna try our Tengu 4025 in your oxy5.

In order to make things easier for you and other oxy5 owners, we have just now added the 40mm shaft as a selectable option to the 6S and 12S models of the Tengu 4025 on our website

Side note: We left the 4035 ones (for the Meg) untouched for now, as they should be fine with the standard 38mm shaft I guess.

Once again thanks a lot for your feedback and we hope you enjoy your new motor,

best regards

Vincent

Hi,

maybe it helps: i've done one on a 3220... it was early may (so still with full Corona trouble)... and it was perfect. they test-wound a motor to verify the kV within 1 day (!) and my motor was sent within 1-2 working days after my final confirmation/order... so it could not be faster

they mailed me the invoice and i received a Paypal payment request... just had to confirm it and it was done. very smooth transaction!

... just ask Vincent about your needs! the Egodrift team is really great!

Ciao
Michael

Hi and good morning,

first of all thank you Michael for your kind words - I am very happy you enjoyed your special order

And @xoexoe:

Please feel free to send me a Pm (or find me on Facebook if you're there - messenger might be quicker/more direct) and let me know the specifications you have in mind (and which setup you have in mind).

As Michael said, we usually have custom winds ready within as little as 1 day, and I'll happily assist you getting your motor built

Thanks Rabid for the info! Before posting my question above I had inquired via email to Egodrift. All I did was provide the size (4020), kV (950) and the heli it was intended for (drop in replacement for XLP 520)... I didn’t get around to measuring the shaft diameter or length yet as I was just seeing how the process was. Well, Vincent was already familiar with that setup and created an order & PayPal request, just as you described.

Order placed! Thanks Vincent!

Vincent

Nine days from me paying to getting the motor. For a custom-kV high quality motor? Awesome! Very happy with the whole process.

EGOís usual 4020 motor for XL Power 520 is 1050 kV, but my custom one is 950 kV. Itís replacing my XLPOWER stock 4020-1100 motor.

What a beauty! I havenít flown it yet, hopefully soon.

Thanks Vincent and Pan.

Default Special Orders?

The kV was pretty much spot on. Based on hovering RPM after doing the ESC gov calibration, itís kV is 88.5% of my 1100 kV XLP motor, or 974 kV (assuming the 1100 kV value is right). So the new motor is only 24 kV off... probably within the usual margin of error for these things, and who knows about the 1100 kV value. Yeah!

I also tried loading up the motor as much as I could at 85% throttle. Came down at 130 F on the outer can. Great motor!
