Default Kolibri - Futaba Telemetry

Iím trying to get the telemetry working from my Kolibri 140 to my Futaba radio and I could use some help.

Here is my setup
KOLIBRI 140 LV-I
Futaba r7008sb receiver
Futaba 18SZ transmitter

I used the progunit to update the Kolibri to the most current firmware.

I have the master cable (red, white, black) connected to channel 3 of my receiver which is the throttle channel. The front telemetry 5 pin connection has 2 wires connected (white and black) to a 3 pin JR style connector on pins 1 and 3. This JR connector is plugged into the S.Bus-2 port on the receiver. Telemetry is turned on in the transmitter.

After making all the connections I rebound my receiver. I see the telemetry for the receiver voltage, but the Kontronik telemetry doesnít show up in the sensor list. I can manually add it at slot 8 but it doesnít get any data from the ESC.

Iíve tried 2 different receivers with the same results. I verified that the telemetry was working by adding a Futaba temperature sensor to the system as a test. Iíve also tried registering the Kolibri ESC using the connection on the back of the transmitter, but the transmitter always gives me the error that the sensor is not ready.

Any suggestions?

You might have to use the Progunit and use your pc to change telemetry Futaba. Look at picture.

Thanks. I’ve done that. Front port is set to Futaba.

It does work, you need to register the KOLIBRI as a telemetry sensor in the 18SZ.

See this video for an example of the setup process.

Here are some quick spots in the manual that others have maybe not understood.

Before disconnecting the battery from the ESC,
it's essential to await the confirmation (step 8),
otherwise the KOLIBRI sees an incomplete
programming and will lock preventing any
potential issues by this and will flash 9 times to
indicate the mode programming has not been
accepted!

So make sure you let it go to the end of beeps.

Please note that Futaba can only be used
with the sensorport 1 (the one in the front).
The sensor port at the side of the KOLIBRI
140 LV cannot be used with Futaba.

Also make sure you use sensor port 1, you can NOT use sensor port 2 for Futaba telemetry.

Also as something else to try, try inhibiting kontronik on sensor port 8 in the 18sz and select kontronik on sensor port 16.

Default Fixed!

Thanks to Dr. Ben at Kontronik I got this issue resolved. I'm sharing his response here, in hopes it will help someone else out in the future with their Futaba Telemetry issues.

--------------------------------------------------------------
First, it DOES work. It's just a little fussy about set up. I went out and did a fresh set up with my own Kolibri before writing this to make sure of order of steps.

-Make double damn certain you have the receiver in the correct config. I don't think there is a way to make the -2 slot slot anything other than Sbus-2, but make sure of it. Go into the telemetry section in the radio and inhibit all the slots if any are populated. Then assign slot 16 to Kontronik esc. For the ID, MANUALLY input 133 beside slot 16. I think I got the radio to automatically register once, but this way is much easier. That ID number is not unique to a given linked receiver and esc combination.

-Make sure you have the esc in Futaba telemetry mode. You can do it by counting the beeps, but it's easier to see and confirm what is going on by looking at the computer screen with Progunit. Either way make sure you have not made a mistake. Gotta be Futaba. Gotta be front port.

-Reboot the transmitter. Relink the receiver. Make sure you drive the receiver with the ESC's BEC because the linking has to occur with the esc powered up. If you don't then see telemetry data, restart everything once more (not relinking, just unplug and replug).
NOTE: BE CAREFUL of what is going on when you link the receiver. You can get a successful CONTROL link with the receiver without getting a telemetry link. Watch the green light on the receiver closely. It MUST go green DURING the music being played by the transmitter. If you get green AFTER you hit the CLOSE button, then you only have flight control, not telemetry.

same problem with you...
my setup :

KOLIBRI 60 LV
Futaba r7008sb receiver
Futaba 18SZ transmitter

I am trying your solution (slot 16 and set No.133) but no telemetry info in my 18SZ.
I think there is some problem with the registered step..
From official TelMe manual, i found below text:

4. Programming the Transmitter
During registration of your ESC in the sensor menu of your radio control, the ESC must be switched on and properly connected to your TelMe-module.
Additionally, the TelMe must be powered externally by either a battery or the slave-port of the ESC by using a Y-cable (not included). This is not necessary in regular usage. After registration the ESC must be restarted and the receiver and the radio control have to be rebound.

God bless the KOLIBRI is only integration a Telme module no more tricks...
I am trying to find a Y-cable to registered it...

Are you trying to use a separate TellMe module with your Kolibri ESC? The Kolibri ESC has one built in. It’s always powered. You just need a 5 pin jst to 3 pin servo connector. Plug that into the esc and the s.bus2 port on your rx.

I did't use a separate TelMe. But i think the principle is same. The cable "pin jst to 3 pin servo" only Black&White cable without "power" so i think maybe its necessary to powered externally when registration.

You should email Dr. Ben. He’s very helpful. Maybe the smaller esc needs a different procedure.

@dtx66 - Make sure you have the transmitter configured to use the R7008SB receiver in 18 channel FAASTest mode and you have the KOLIBRI telemetry cable connected to the SBUS.2 port on the receiver.

Default 32 MZ AND KONTRONIK 250 HV

I went thru the set up and that was the easiest thing to do, a little frustrating in the beginning but with a little help from Dr. Ben and dshriver was a breeze .
You just register the kool kosmik 250 with the radio and then you set in the esc the poles and gear ratio and you good to go.

This is my set up:
Futaba 32 mz
kontronik kool kosmik 250 hv
futaba cgy760r
cyclic servos hps-hc700
