Default Alarm for BEC Failure

All of my larger helis utilize either a Jive Pro, Kosmik or Kolibri ESC. I have TelMe modules on all of the older ESCs while my newer units like the Kolibri 140 have built-in telemetry. I always place a small 2S lipo in parallel with the output of the BEC which is set to 8 volts. I fly with JETI equipment which has voltage monitoring telemetry built into the receiver. So then, here's my question: if the BEC fails, will I get a low voltage alarm from the ESC even though the 2S backup lipo maintains the receiver/servo voltage at 8 volts? At the moment of BEC failure, the JETI receiver won't issue an alarm because it still sees 8 volts from the backup lipo. An alarm, if one is generated, would have to come from the ESC itself, regardless of whether a backup lipo is present or not. Might anyone know the answer?

Mike

This doesn't answer your question, but I use the Optipower Ultra-Guard Back Up. It triggers if the BEC value drops more than 0.5 volts. It runs off a small 2S battery and maintains the voltage at 1/2 volt lower than the initial voltage. It can have a LED to indicate from the heli and you can set a telemetry alarm on your transmitter.

The ESC will generate a warning internally but not via telemetry. You can set your alarm on the Jeti to 7.5V as the Lipo battery will drop as soon as the BEC fail.
