Default AR7200BX Flybar setup

Hey all,

I'm getting back into the hobby and I've acquired an AR7200BX and an older T-Rex 700 Nitro Pro. I'm keeping it Flybarred for now as I'd just like to fly it as is and catch my bearings again.

As far as the setup on the AR7200BX, is there a resource to show me how to set it up with a flybar? Just using it as a Gyro, Governor and RX.

Thanks!

Hi:

Sorry to say that with the information from the manual, it doesn't seem that it can be used strictly as a tail gyro. Others like the Bavarian Demon and now defunct Skookum could be setup as a tail only gyro. I would have a look around for tail gyros as I have picked them up for as little as 5 dollars at a swap meet. Once you have decided to change your 700 to FBL, then you are already set with the gyro but in the meantime, you will need a standard 7 channel (or the more, the merrier) receiver and a standard heading hold/rate mode tail gyro. If the PC software allows changes to be made, great, but I have never used it. Take care.

AFAIK Spirit System and MSH Brain FBL units (version number is 2 on both of them) have a special option for a flybar head.
Please check those sub forums.

In retrospect, you might look at changing the gains for the aileron and elevator channels to zero. Leave the tail gyro as a heading hold setup. I also read within the past couple of days where a fellow took a flybarless gyro and hooked it up to his flybar helicopter and flew it using low to moderate gains on the elevator and aileron. He found no adverse reactions of the gyro to the flybar. If you take it slow and easy, you might be surprised. Take care.
