Default Ar7210bx blade pitch

I’ve recently got back and these fbl units are new to me. I got a goblin mini comet (and tomorrow a fireball competition)Both with ar7210bx. Bk’s on mini and Torq for the fireball.
Here’s my plan to build
1- bind rx/tx
2-setup the fbl as per the manual
3-setup hobbywing esc
Here’s where I’m not 100% sure

4-Setup the blade pitch (on tx) for normal so midstick is 4 degrees and keep modes 1&2 with -12 to+12

5- rebind tx/rx and double check everything
6- say a prayer
7- go for first test flight

I heard you don’t change the pitch curves in normal mode with fbl.
Is this correct?
I’m coming from flybar and normal was usually about 4 degrees at mid stick

Not having a ton of time right now, if you set your hover so that at mid stick it holds height, if you don't have your Idle 1 and 2 set the same, you will drop like a rock as you switch modes from Normal to 1 or Normal to 2. Conversely, if you change from Idle 1 or 2 to Normal, you will pop like a cork. Either set them all the same, in your transmitter, so that they all hover at 4 degrees or set them so that they are all zero pitch at mid stick. Hope this is a start.

Setup must be done with 0 degrees pitch at center stick and symmetrical +/- 12'ish values on the ends. After that you can adjust the pitch curve in the transmitter as you like.

Its been a few years but I learned as a +5 center stick but have to admit the transition to 0 at center was easy and made finding 0 on vertical lines much easier. I would recommend just making the transition now and you can decrease the normal negative pitch for hovering type stuff.

Regards,

Fully agree. I have AR7210BX in all my scale birds, 360 to 600 size. Zero degrees pitch at center stick and +12/-12 degrees end to end in setup and in flight, no need to change this.
Since i fly only scale style, pitchcurves are 30,40,50,75,100. All modells perform very calm and reliable, i love this unit.

Ok great thank you very much for all your advice. I got so busy with life and work that I wasn’t able to do anything until now.
I’m planning on trying this weekend. Yes 0 at midstick is right. I found some of my old 450 setup sheets also.
Not sure why I thought 4 would b good and yes that jump from switching would’ve been a cheek clenching moment lol
This is my setup
Normal -2.5(low) 0 (mid) 12 (high)
Throttle linear 0 / 50(mid) /100
Idle up1 and idle up 2......-12 / 0 / 12
Throttle (1)100/75/100 and 100/85/100 (2)

My pitch across the board is actually a touch higher about .125 it’s as close as I could get, but travel is up/down is accurate, equal and straight/level.
I got 2 packs ready to go. And I’m gonna start off with the align blades for setup and a few flights.
Thank you once again 👍

No Governor for throttle? If Your ESC is not equipped with governor mode, You could use the governor in AR7210BX aswell.

Governor... No my esc doesn’t have one that I know of I’m flying a trex 500 pro w dfc head. Rce-bl70g esc, ds 510m’s & 520m servos, and rcm-bl500mx. I probably won’t be doing anything that requires a governor right now as I just need to get all my orientations familiar again.

I’m using the gov store mode on the hobbywing that comes with the mini comet. Sab esc60A And Switch blades, not align.... that’s for my trex500pro
Not sure if I can disable the Sab governor and use the AR7210’s.
I think it would b better to disable the Sab gov and use the ar gov.
Not sure.

No, if the ESC offers governor mode, i would recommend to use it. If there is no governor mode in ESC options i would suggest to use the governor in FBL.
I use YGE ESC for all my modells with AR7210BX, and ESC governor is enabled. FBL governor is disabled.

So the throttle curves I had for idle up 1/2 are ok? Or should I change them?

I ended up using those pitch curves ( not throttle) for both the trex and the mini comet. I got the trex all finished up and have flown it a couple times now. The blades seem to be slightly out of track.
I plan on finishing up the mini comet today and trying it out tomorrow after work
Thanks for the help everyone
