What do you use one for? I've never seen that.
Thanks

Probably if your FBL doesn’t have a cyclic ring setting, or if you don’t have an FBL (ie, flybar) . It prevents too much aileron and elevator input at the same time to avoid binding and too much cyclic pitch.

My first thought was that it was easier to program than dual rates?
Interesting.

Cyclic rings were big back in the flybarless days when most computer radios didn't have the ability to limit interaction between longitudinal and lateral cyclic. Thus you could set up for full deflection at rhe corners and would be limited to somewhat less when one was centered and the other at full deflection.
The problem is that nearly all radios need more of a rounded square than a circle to be perfect. You'd need one for each model, each dual rates setting, etc. On my 10X back in the day, it just took a couple mix curves to do it electronically, and even then, it wasn't all that wonderful. Now you just set the "cyclic ring" setting in the flight controller. Lots of guys loved them. And they worked great for the guys that used them religiously. I never got used to them and felt like they were just yanking the stick off my thumb pad when hitting the corners of deflection. To each his own. |
