You're about to get married, then comes a house, kids...etc. Sell the bike, use the money to pay off debt, stay out of debt and save money like you're life depends on it.
Fly what you have. Your priorities need to change with your wife/family taking priority over hobbies. You can thank me in 20 years when you're still happily married because you made good financial decisions.

2787 per 100000* for Covid 19 or lets say 10x more people have gotten sick than tested, its still ~300 per 100000. Not many here would want to risk being a logger, but wearing a mask and social distancing...nah. Not trying to turn this into a covid thread, but I'm just pointing out the risks people are comfy taking because it fits their narrative. * based on 213k deaths and 7.64million cases in the US as of today |

I agree, which is why at 10x it’s 3x more dangerous than logging!!! Which is way more dangerous than a motorcycle! |

This thread certainly took a different route than expected. Bike is sold. Money will be used to buy a new heli which my fiancé and wife as of noon tomorrow fully supports. Keep in mind while many of you may have many years of experience being married or have had marriages that have failed (like my parents) that you have never met my fiancé or have any idea of how supportive she is of my dozens of hobbies. While I certainly enjoyed my motorcycle, I did not live or die to ride like some. I was willing to give that up to give her some peace of mind and also increase my time and resources spent on another hobby which I enjoy more.

The OP is seems determined in his decisions. To which best of luck and congratulations are in order. For the rest of young guys and gals in the forum whom might be faced with a similar dilemma: Work on your goals and objetives (your purpose) degree, technical school, WHATEVER first and foremost. Save your money to buy YOUR house or finance your business. Pay off student loans or any other DEBT. DO NOT MARRY at an early age. Much less have children. If you have to..........wait till at least 30 or 35. If your SO is so into you, let him or her work on their goals and purpose as well. So you can meet halfway on the financial agenda. NEVER have joint accounts. NEVER move-in together. (when fights erupt, you BOTH will need your "alone" space) this doesn't happen if you cohabitate. Visit, stay over at each other's but avoid more then one month cohabitation. Just think how nice it'd be to have his and hers own places so IF and when you marry you can decide which one to live at.... and RENT the other one out. Or worst case scenario, In case of divorce there's no dividing anything given these are privately owned assets not part of the marriage CONTRACT. (at least in my state) BTW, If any of the parties refuses a pre-nup, that's a huge red flag. According to the law: Marriage is the legal status, condition or relationship that results from a contract by which one man and one woman, who have the capacity to enter into such an agreement, mutually promise to live together in the relationship of Husband and Wife in law for life, or until the legal termination of the relationship. Marriage is a legally sanctioned contract between a man and a woman. Entering into a marriage contract changes the legal status of both parties, giving husband and wife new rights and obligations. Public policy is strongly in favor of marriage based on the belief that it preserves the family unit. Traditionally, marriage has been viewed as vital to the preservation of morals and civilization. The traditional principle upon which the institution of marriage is founded is that a husband has the obligation to support a wife, and that a wife has the duty to serve. In the past, this has meant that the husband has the duty to provide a safe house, to pay for necessities such as food and clothing, and to live in the house. (This condition continues to this date) A wife's obligation has traditionally entailed maintaining a home, living in the home, having sexual relations with her husband ( sorry couldn't resist) and rearing the couple's children. Changes in society have modified these marital roles to a considerable degree as married women have joined the workforce in large numbers, and more married men have become more involved in child rearing. From the financial point of view, marriage is a really bad deal for the man given the gynocentric judicial system and the inevitable hypergamous nature of women. Unfortunately there's a certain lifespan for the majority of marriages, After which the man looses 50% if not more of his assets and worst off can loose contact with the kids. The government has shown women that not much effort is required to continue to live "the lifestyle" with no loss on their part and you are stuck with the bill for the next 20 to 30 years. Hence, if you can have your career and financial goals in place before hand you'd stand a far better chance of surviving should you become part of the divorce statistics.

Picture speaks a thousand words. More heli advice for the op, less matrimonial advice, I'm sure RedDeffern will be fine in the latter.

None after a couple crashes in my 20s .. I luckily was barely injured but it was enough to clue me in that they are extremely dangerous and they are not for me!
Dirt bikes were cool when I was a kid. The grass/mud is MUCH softer than the asphalt! Quote:

It sounds like you are already way ahead of a lot of the people on here giving you all there "Great Advice and Knowledge" that wasnt even asked for. As far as a larger heli go for it ! If you dont feel comfortable with it after flying it for sometime you can always park it in the garage till you want to try it again A bigger heli is going to make you nervous for some time but you sound like you use your head for more than a hat rack so I dont think you will have any problems

Your post has been almost as good as a bachelor party. Pics please.
Pretty much any modern 500 or 550 will do.
