Default Jeti Voice files

I am playing around with some voices for my radio. In my first post here I attach a batch made with Ava as the voice on my Mac. I will also do male voices soon.

First though I would like to complete the list - still working on everything that would be good to have in the collection. Updates coming soon.

macOS command line:
say -v Anna -r 150 -o T_MotStart.wav --file-format=WAVE [email protected] "Motor Start"

-v = voice, "Anna" is the German voice i am using, select your preferred one
-o xxxx.wav = output file name
"Motor Start" is the text
-r = speed, lower = slower

Ciao
Michael

nb: ... it will include the files into iTunes/Music... you may want to delete them there later

When making these files, it will be helpful to remember that Jeti truncates names into an "eight dot three" format, with the .wav being the three. If you have a lot of files with the same first eight letters, you may have some file confusion. I use "D_******.wav for my voice files, so I can find them easily due to the "D_" part, and six letters to describe them, such as D_motlok.wav; D_flapup.wav; D_flapdn.wav; etc.

real good & important point! i am using first letter for type of message.... "A_" = Alarm, "E_" = Error, "F_" = flight mode, "M_" = motor, "T_" = timer, "S_" = signal, etc etc etc plus description. this can really help to find the correct one quickly!

Is there really an 8x3 limit? I've not got my radio to hand right now, but I'm certain I'm using much longer filenames, with the full name visible in the software.

It might be down to whether you format the SD card as FAT or FAT32. I fitted a faster SD card in my radio some time back.

I mainly use a female voice but use male for some unusual warning that I need to pay more attention to just to make it more evident.

I play around with different language also to make it fun. My Evoluzione name is in Italian and my TDR in German for example.

I believe it's truncated when it's added to the model. I think in the .jsn file. So if you switch transmitters and add the model file, it may struggle to find the right name. I've slept since then, so if someone remembers better please elaborate and correct. There was pretty much agreement a few years back that the eight dot three was the way to prevent any problems. With the newer processors and more memory, it's probably a digital appendix, still there but not as functional as it once was. YMMV

Aaah, yup, checked my backups and they're shortened in the model file.

I think I'll rename mine so the first 8 characters identify them, but keep the long names for readability in the GUI.

I make up my own voice files with a text to speech application called Balabolka (it's Russian) and then within the app, I use the Cere Voice Heather (a Scottish lady voice) Works well for me, and if the files are too quiet then I will up the audio output with Audacity.

The Heather voice is free if you work in Education, but you have to buy it if you don't.
