How do I slow retract servos on Scale Heli? Will this work?

Hi,

I'm working on a 700 size Augusta 109 with retractable landing gear. I had given up for a while because I couldn't find a way to slow the blindingly fast retract servos. I stumbled across this on eBay today. Does anyone know if this is what I need? It's the "New Turnigy Servo 3 Channel Speed Slow Down Speed Retracts Direction Regulator". I have a Futaba 18SZ.

Most radio systems allow you to change the speed of a servo output.

Since you have a number of channels free, it would even be possible to adjust the speed of each retract, if you have enough connections available. I try to find videos on YouTube that show the full size in operation, that way, if I have the ability to run the gear so that they are slower on one side or different from main to nose, then I stand a good chance to do so. I have only one helicopter with wheels and this is a small 450 size A109 with independent speeds on the nose and mains. That is all done through the servo speed option in the servo setup menu. Hope this helps.

I used one of those on a 450 size Airwolf. Worked great and you can adjust the speed both ways.

Just adjust the servo speed in the radio, no need for more weight...

I don't know about Your Futaba Tx, but Spektrum tx (DX8) offers a "Sequenzer". You can run a programmable pattern with 5-point different speeds foward and another 5-point different speed pattern backwards.

RTFM - Page 76 - In the LINKAGE menu on the 18SZ there is a SERVO SPEED menu.

I had a single-channel Turnigy slow-down circuit on my retracts. Worked fine and has very little weight.
