Default test flying mechanics?

is it a smart move to build the mechanics totally and test flying before fitting into a scale fuse? it would mean adding the gear and fins and than removing them again.no big deal, just wondering

Dont mind the fins.
Add the expected weight to the center of gravity, e.g. between the skids, right below the main shaft. Bring the mecanics to the expected takeoff weight the scale modell will have.
