Default Goblin RAW 700

Looks like a new Goblin is on the way.....the "Goblin RAW 700". From what I can see on the darkened, short video clip on Facebook, it has a long sleek canopy.....reminds me of the Protos Evo a bit. Supposed to be light weight, easy maintenance and designed for competition. Can't wait to see it!

Is it just me or was Kraken literally just yesterday? How many new models does one need?

Surely they are not going to replace the Kraken line so soon, I mean it doesn't make any sense and seems like a complete waste of money, time, resources etc.

SAB has been great maintaining the parts supply network. No reason to be upset over them releasing new models.

Kraken came out like 8 months after the T... which is why I'm going to roll with Mikado going forward and just keep the T for as long as they support it. Curious to see the news though.

Also, before someone else posts this:

Before the official kraken release, SAB openly stated the kraken was not meant as a replacement for the black thunder in their lineup. Perhaps this is.

Hi
You can also see it in another way : more models, so more people flying SAB. If the parts are shared between models, it increases the stock availability for parts

Default New Goblin RAW

A friend of mine told me this idea and I think it makes sense. Time to revamp the Sport Line and finish phasing out the Thunder line. Make sense?

If not for the teaser video, yes it would make sense. But a new 'affordable' sport model just doesnt fit with the claims made in the video. The disco smoke obscured teaser makes big play of it being aimed at competition and having the same low maintenance and rigidity features that were the big claim for the Kraken. Also the light weight claim is not consistent with a budget 'sport' model.

Taking the claims in the video at face value it looks more like either a Kraken update (like when SAB brought out the 'Competition' version of the original Goblin) or a possibly (and this is my bet) a higher cost version of the Kraken aimed at competition pilots (and 'wanabee' competition pilots), that will be sold alongside the current Kraken. Same sort of idea that Oxy tried with the Oxy 5 'HF'.

I'm sure there will be more teaser videos to come to work up the SAB faithful into a frenzy

Maybe more of applying the Thunder-T treatment to the Kraken?

If they put Helical gears similar to the 580 in place of the straight cut that the 700 has & take some weight out beyond the Blue edition; I just might have found a 700...

Given how I've seen quite a few Goblin Sports have the plastic bearing blocks ripped apart in the air, I would never consider getting one. Plastic is fine, but only if done well. If this new heli uses plastic, I hope they do it right this time.

I dont think the 700 Sport models use any plastic? The differences in materials are glass fibre for the frames and canopy rather than carbon fibre.

But like i said, the 'feel' of the video is not for a budget model, it seems to be a teaser for a 'high end' competition orientated version.

I'm hoping for an evolution of the classic Goblin line. An update to the Thunder Sport, with massive parts carry over, even if they change the overall look.

The choice of the word "Raw" to me means a lack of bells and whistles, rather than a premium line like the Kraken.
