Rigid or dampened on a Spirit FBL?

Thanks.

Why choose one vs the other?

Why did SAB include different versions in the kit? What works for one may not work for the other.

I appreciate the information. Why? Choice of FBL? I'm unclear on why one would choose one vs the other? How would I know it won't work?

It goes back to the Kraken, which is what the RAW is based off. There were 4 iterations of the FBL mount for it. People experienced problems across all FBL types as far as I know. If you install the rigid and you have vibration problems you have another choice. The reason there is a dampened version is because people had issues with the rigid. I think those problems have mostly gone away with the RAW, however. I've seen the same question asked many times between here and fb, the responses are about even between the two.

JRman is right, there’s no one answer.

The rigid one has been described as having a ‘more connected feel’ but can cause issues related to vibration like ‘Rescue’ not working well or at all.

The vibration isolation versions have had some complaints of a less connected feel but it can solve the issue of vibrations but not in all cases.

The newer Raw and Kraken kits have changed the metal gears from a straight cut to a slant/helical gear set. In general the updated gears helped the vibration issues.

I’d start with the non-isolated mount and move to the isolated versions if vibs are too high for rescue or self leveling to work correctly.

Pretty sure most of the dampened mount designs was around rescue function struggling with vibes, so depends on fbl used, and if you use rescue too. Choose a mount and try it, just test the rescue well in flight before needing it.

Safest best route any FBL system is the dampened, it is not soft at all but does help with alot of vibe interference. Which the RAW has plenty of chassis vibes.
