Default Xlpower 380 question

 hello everyone.
Pretty close to buying this heli. I want to keep it very light. Is it possible to use a 50a esc with the xlpower 920 kv motor?
Thank you in advance

I have the xnova motor and a 50A esc. I think it all depends on your flying style. ESCs can take short bursts of current way higher than their continuous current rating. If you're constantly really hitting the collective hard then you might want a 60A, but if you're a sport or smooth 3d flier, then there shouldn't be any problems at all. It's a light heli which helps as well.

Get the hobbywing 60 amp and never worry. Great esc.

50A will be fine. The HobbyWing 50 is discontinued and dated so if that's the one you're looking at go for the 60 instead.

I fly a Tribunus 80 but only because I want mAh telemetry and it was one of the only ESCs that had that when I got it that wasn't egregiously overpriced, and it's super light. I fly my XL380 at 2550rpm most of the time, doing pretty hard 3D, and peak amps are usually 40-50A, average being much less, during pretty decent 3D. The only time I come close to 80A is when I fly at 3100rpm, which is insane and totally unnecessarily high headspeed. And even then, the highest peak I've ever seen beating it as hard as I can was 79A, which a 60A ESC would be okay with.

If I didn't have the need for mAh/Amp telemetry, I would be flying a HobbyWing 60 V4.

Given that you say you're trying to "keep it light" that probably means you intend to run relatively low headspeed, so a 50/60 should be just fine.

The YGE 65LVT has full telemetry, including mah and it only weighs 45g. That's what is in my P380. Been using the same ESC in my Oxy 4M for nearly 3yrs now and one of the best ESCs I've ever used, the brand. It's basically the same weight as the HW 40/60A and tucks away very easily under the battery mount.
