Default Planning to bring Jeti Tx into the fleet

It is time to upgrade my 10+yr old radio systems. Nothing wrong with it, just limited capabilities. Planning to go for Jeti which clearly has the most complete solution to telemetry and integration, so this is a sanity check kind of post!!
The plan is to have Jeti on two of my helis that I fly the most. One is running at the moment Power Jive+mini vbar, the other Mezon RPM + Beastx Plus. I am not looking for full integration at first, so my interest is telemetry.
The way I plan to implement this is like this:
Heli1: Single line from Jeti Rx to vbar. Configure my Jlog2 to send Jive data to Jeti Rx telemetry port and get it at the Tx and view and log it.

Heli2: Single line from Jeti Rx to beastx. Connect the Mezon telemetry output to the Jeti Rx port and get it back at the Tx for viewing and logging.
Since the Rx will be used with FBLs I assume that any Rx will do even with minimal channels (e.g. Rex 3).

Initial plan is to get a DS-12 with the Telemetry option and two Rex 3. To get integration later I can swap out the FBLs with Spirit and have everything running off the Jeti Tx.
Anyone has experience with similar setups?
A question about logging: What is the sampling/logging rate when logging with telemetry and not on board an FBL or other unit on the heli?
Any comments or ideas welcome!

You seem on track to me. The REX3 will have capability to expand telemetry in the future since you only need the one line into the FBLs (two telemetry inputs if needed). Not sure of the sampling rates, but all telemetry will store in your DS-12 to be available after the flights, and you can view it on your transmitter screen or download to Jeti Studio on a computer for viewing. Been with Jeti about eight years now, and nothing has tempted me to switch since.

Great! The question about log rate is just to see if it down samples when sending data because of the transmission rates of telemetry. I doudt it but it'd be interesting to know.

Hi Apostolos,

i‘ve had the combination Rex3/Vbar (Mini/Silver and Neo)... just configured to UDI and never any trouble. just bring the Rex3 to newest firmware and you are fine. this was my first step when switching to Jeti: DS-12 plus 7pcs
Rex3. 2nd step was Spirit 2/RS. i would always do it again this way

regarding sampling rate: depends on sensor‘s implementation quality my j-Log(s32) have been more on the slower side (2Hz), YGE Escs are ~10Hz constantly over flight time. (5 minutes flight, 3000 lines). others are somewhere between that. btw: playing with telemetry data in JetiStudio is pure joy! and the quick check directly on Ds-12 is the cherry on the cake.

Ciao
Michael

Nb: my jLogs never did work on ExBus, but without trouble on EXT. who cares where they are connected just configure to EX and not ExBus.

Ha, this my plan as well! DS-12 + Rex3 and later Spirit.
It is surprising that s32 is only 2Hz. You can easily miss spikes like this. jLog2 samples at 10Hz on Jive. Log data is the only way to setup a helicopter properly on the power train and it will be great to view data even on the Tx.

I have the jLog2 configured already to Jeti telemetry firmware . I need to buy/make a cable now to connect to the Rex3.

Thanks for the tips!

... as my heli was already tuned before there was no big problem with slower S32 telemetry for me. and absolute spikes are visible in IMot Max / Power Max. it's the downside of jLog... great unit, but unfortunately no more development. anyhow, you can use the jLog sd card logging during tuning... this is really really fast!

that's one reason i've switched over to YGE... perfect 10Hz telemetry. programming from Tx. that's top-notch today! i guess your Jeti Esc will be perfect too...

Ciao

Strange that it drops to 2Hz on the com port. It uses 9600 baud on the com so maybe that is the limitation. it does not look to be enough to drop to 2Hz. In any case, the 10Hz from jive on jlog2 is good enough and I can get all the data I need to tune the heli on the logs.

Anyway, jeti kit bought so I should be setting this up in a week or two and see what comes back from the old jlog2!

A couple days ago the ds12 arrived and one of my helis is now fully setup on jeti.
This heli has a Mezon RPM esc and the telemetry cable goes through the rex3 ext. I can see and configure the rex3 and I get all telemetry from the mezon but I can't program the mezon.
It does not appear as a device and the jetibox emulation simply shows actual values from the mezon and no configuration menus.
Reading the mezon manual it should be able to program through a duplex system so trying to find out what needs to be done to get this to work.

Edit: found it through jetibox. Just wasn't getting to the correct menu before.
