I would buy it only if it has Open TX. Not interested.

Give it some time. I've bought a few first release Frsky transmitters, EVERY one had issues that had to be fixed.

I had one on pre-order but then cancelled and have decided to wait until the end of the year.

It is difficult to understand what the status is - there is a massive thread (500 pages) on another forum but when you read that it is easy to think that there is nothing but problems.

But when you remove the heated discussions between FrSky fanboys and the FrSky haters you realise that most of the issues are from people trying to do very complex things that most of us wouldn’t care about.

So I find it difficult to judge how stable it is for the casual fair weather Sunday pilots (like me).

What is clear is that there is no sign of the third model (X20HD) or the Tandem receivers, or the bigger sibling (X24) and the silence from FrSky is deafening.

What makes me most uncomfortable is the apparent lack of interest from FrSky, they just seem to be focussed on making products and leaving the product support to a handful of unpaid community advocates.

I really like the Jeti but finding it difficult to justifying a £1000 vs £400 spend, and that it doesn’t stop there because receivers and telemetry seems to be similarly more expensive with Jeti.

How I arrive at the £1000 for Jeti, I considered buying one this Christmas, and it went like this

Looked at the DS-12 - £556
Then saw the DS-12 Special Edition that looked better value - £677

Was okay with that but then realised that you have to pay extra to get some functions. I saw it is cheaper to buy in the upgrade packs. I tried to rationalise what I would actually need, found I couldn’t, so decided I would safer to buy the top pack which adds another £346.

So £1023 in total, so I view the Jeti DS-12 as a £1000 radio and FrSky are offering the same functionality (with a compromise in build quality) for £400.

I haven’t decided one way or another yet, but know that it will be hard to justify the price of the Jeti, unless the FrSky X20 turns out to be poor.

Cheers,

Nigel

I have never actually seen or used a Jeti... may I ask what is the ďcompromise in build qualityĒ compared to the Horus?

This is what the inside of a Jeti looks like

That should give you an idea to the level of build quality throughout.

DS-16 I think - going by the aluminium casing. I was really focussing on the internal build, the PCBs and the wiring.

Also my comment is also on the build quality, not saying that the FrSky performs worse as a result. BTW the insides of Futaba and Spektrum look more like the FrSky than the Jeti.

This is Jeti’s entry level, the DS-12, with plastic body.

Cheers,

Nigel

I donít have a picture of it but it looks just like a black x20 with hand grip shells lol.

Itís doing everything I hoped it would and more. And some items that arenít yet available are soon to come for sure like LUA and calculated Mah consumption. Iím buying 6ch stabilized receivers with telemetry and built in flight pack voltage sensor for $40cdn instead of $140cdn Spektrum overpriced stuff. I love this thing. So many channels for so little is a feeling Iím not familiar with. Iím now setting up each verso on my planes with individual channels instead of Y cables. This let me bypass a faulty gear door box on Freewing jet with simple programming in my Tx to achieve the same thing.

It also takes less time to google a pic than to type that response. Just sayiní.

Hereís mine with the plane I use to test out all new radio equipment. Today was the first day out with it. In all, nice radio. Screen shows up really well in the sun (much better than my Vcontrol Touch and Radiomaster that were also with me today), good signal, feels different but good.

Programming wise itís very capable, thereís a few things different than OpenTX, but for the most part everything is there and works similarly. Thereís a couple of details that need to be addressed (showing peaks on telemetry for instance), but Iím sure thatíll come. I also setup a model in it to go with a Maxx FBL I picked up to play with, wasnít difficult and all works as expected.

In all, I like it. Iíd be had most radios (all the Jetis, Spektrum iX20 and iX12, Futabas up to 14MZ and 14SZ, every Frsky, Jumper 16, Radiomaster 16, plus both flavors of Vcontrol), and Iíd pick this over all of them if I didnít enjoy the Vcontrol and Neo setup so much. This will definitely become my new radio for everything aside from my helis.
