Is the "Trust Test" actually being gullible enough to click on a link to an unknown site from an unknown person telling us to take a "Trust Test"?
I guess I failed - 'cause I don't trust it.

If the article is true then some of us might be taking it soon.

Has anyone else heard of this yet?

A new faa thing.

Is the article not true?

Why would that be a worthwhile prank? If it is they half got me.

That's why I brought it up.

Do you think it applies to us?

It isn't hard to check. It's on the FAA's website.

Lol. They’re coming very close to admitting what tyrannical bureaucratic nonsense it is. Basically it does absolutely nothing to ensure safety or competency, and is strictly about getting your name and information so they can add you to their list for a rainy day when they decide to pinch down on you. Don’t mistake permission for freedom folks.

Actually, this is a pretty toned down version of what they originally wanted, which was every pilot had to be licensed including a physical.

The AMA has been selected to administer the test.

The site is the IEEE, which is trustworthy enough, though they probably think you should get at least an MSEE and maybe a PE before you can build a model :-)

Anyway, if I didn't register my models and it's illegal to fly them anywhere in my state anyway (it's NJ, everything's illegal, even the stuff that's mandatory), no point in taking the TRUST test, no?

It is just an enforced reading exercise to make sure that you have at least a basic knowledge of where, how and when you can legally fly your models. Very similar to what we have to do here in the UK I should imagine, except we have to pay a small fee for ours.

Nothing worth losing any sleep over, though.

It's on the AMA website also.

If one cannot pass this test.....well....

Unless you live/fly in a metro area of some kind or near a commercial airport, you can probably safely ignore all of this FAA BS. Its not like they have local offices all over the place and the local police couldn't care less (unless you are causing a disturbance in which case they may look for ways to cause you problems).

I tend to agree with fiddle - it is unlikely that any of this will be actively enforced unless you are involved in an incident in which case, they will be all over you like a rash.

I had previously registered and got approved for a half mile radius zone behind my house (to 400' of course). The test was easy, aced it, and I'll keep a copy of the certificate on my phone. It really hasn't changed what I do, but I'm legal still. I still think it's all pretty much BS but I blame the idiots who got us into this mess anyway.

If it educates a few idiots to the point where they don't hurt anyone I'm all for it. I'll be glad to take it. Obviously I'm skeptical that the idiots I refer to will actually take it or learn anything.

They are just charging you to read a few safety rules, and be able to prove you read it if questioned. A MAJOR Crock to me, but at most sanctioned events you might have to show it. If it gets them off of our backs for a while, it is worth it.

I took the TRUST test. It’s free from the Pilot Institute. It took about 4 minutes from start to finish. Yes, it was a complete joke but if it’s something which is required then I see no harm in taking it.

Quite right - it is what it is, demands very little effort and far better to be found compliant than rogue, in the event of anything going bad on you. A bit like an insurance policy

"but at most sanctioned events you might have to show it."

That's not true at all.

Show us proof that requires anyone attending a sanctioned event has to
have passed the Trust test.

I have no clue as to how you can infer this.

Are you an AMA member?
