Who all here still flys speed? Kinda sad to see this section so dead these days I know its not the most popular side of the hobby but I really enjoy it. Would love to see this side of the hobby grow some more.

I do but as you have commented it is a very specialized branch of the hobby.

I have a few speed heli's but have yet to have flown speed. Took me a while to feel confident enough to try. Now I need to find a suitable location

I’ve had several Speed kits but just don’t have time to fly now. I’ve got one New in the box just begging me to build it just don’t have time…. Plus where I fly the air traffic has picked up tremendously

I’m getting back into it as I have acquired a couple Goblin speed helis. My new club now has enough room to actually practice so I’m excited to get going w speed again.

Basically FFF. As fast as your equipment allows. Most fly in a U pattern where you are picking up speed in the dive and going straight as you hit the beginning and the end of the speedtrap and then pulling up to slow down and do a flip or a stall turn and repeating in the opposite direction. Can be done with any heli but best done with helis that have a ton of power and are optimized for speed,

I don't, but hope too soon.

A good buddy of mine has a large fleet of helis, but isn't mechanically inclined, so I'm his mechanic and test pilot.

He's due to be picking up a TDR2 within a month or so and has asked me to set it up and see what it can do in terms of flat-out speed.

I've already done some practice runs with my 550X to help prepare myself and those runs at ~70(80?)mph 5 feet off the ground were intense enough. At well over 100mph I think I'll need new trousers.

I can't wait.

I've been working on a comet 700 for WAY too long.

Finished most of the paint about 6 months ago and I'm working on a design to put 2x 90mm edfs on it (12 more s Dr. Madtrhust)

Scorpion 5040 ⁴ s 300a ESC+ 2x yep120a ESC.

Fast I will be

One piece? Maybe...
