Default spirit 2 thoughts

i fly mostly cgy760 ( which i love) and an ikon in my oxy 3 tareq, i bought another oxy 3 qube from someone on heli freak and also a cgy to go in it, i must say that i was dissappointed with the results , i only flew it about 10 times but just couldn't get it to perform as i wanted , so the cgy came out and i was waiting for another ikon to be available on the for sale threads (limited budget flying here)
when the spirit 2 came up i wasn't at all sure but the price was right and i thought i'd "give it a go", not sure if it was a new unit but it certainly looked like it was, setup was a bit intimidating at first and it did take me a couple of attempts to understand everything but i got it all setup and went for the maiden, i must say that i was underwhelmed by the performance , being very similar to the cgy apart from the tail which was absolutely terrible,
i did ask some questions here and got some good answers , with a little trial and error its now where i like it,
so my thoughts , didn't fly "out of the box" well but with a little patience and tuning its exactly how i want it to be , something that i couldn't do with the cgy even with my experience with that unit , overall i made a good decision to try the spirit 2 and think that i might change the other oxy 3 to a spirit because it makes that much of a difference

Spirit 2 is a fantastic unit. Right before I jumped to Vbar, I had it working with full telemetry and integration. If I had jumped to Jeti I would have stayed with Spirit.

Glad to hear you got there in the end.

I used to have all my helis on the Spartan Vortex and I was very used to the setup, the wizards were very good etc. and many maidens were flawless 'out of the box'.

But then development stagnated, it lacks a rescue feature etc. So I got a Spirit and first tried it on my T Rex 500 banger. And.... at first, the results were not great, lots of things needed tweaking, but eventually I got it flying as good as the Spartan.

Then, over the next half dozen or so Spirits that I fitted and setup, something happened. Soon I was getting the nearly flawless maidens and no tweaking. Some of this is because I just automatically bump up a couple things from the defaults (mainly cyclic rot rate and tail rot rate) and I have a good guess at the tail gain, so it's usually close. The other factor... I have to assume... has been regular firmware updates.

...And lots of helpful advice on here when something wasn't totally obvious :-)

I can setup my Helis w/ Spirits in a matter of a few flights. It has become so easy to get it almost perfect on the maiden that it only takes a few tweaks on the next few flights.

As much as I like the MAXX fbl I`m still chasing tail setup on all three helis I have it on after three times the flights it takes to setup the Spirit..

I have pulled all of my Brains / Ikons but one on a protos 380 stretched to 420.

Well, I got a job lot of ellipses, and, ya know, they need to be used. And I just renewed my poetic license, so I'm good to go. :-)
