Default Hobbywing 200A ESC and Vbar governor

Hi there,

Is anybody successfully running the Vbar governor with the HW 200A Esc?

I couldn't make it work properly. The tail would kick off stupidly at spool up.

I'm now running the ESC governor, but would like to try the Vbar one because the ESC governor causes the motor to start up very slowly.

Thanks.

Default Hobbywing 200A ESC and Vbar governor

In my case, there was nothing I could do to make my HW200 play nicely with my VControl governor.
I adjusted every value I could think of in both the esc and Vbar but still had a violent tail kick at some point during spool up. Having wasted tons of time I dumped it for a Scorpion equivalent which works seamlessly.
HW for many years have been my go to esc. I have a 120, 100, 80 on various models in my fleet and they have all worked perfectly with Vbar governor. It is a disgracefully poor effort that their flagship esc is flawed in such a fundamental way. It does them no credit at all.

agreed.. its obvious they dont care, thats why many people just leave hw and switch to another brand.. never to look back.

Yes, it is shocking to me that HW fails to want to correct the issues with their systems. I would still likely fly with them if they gave me what I wanted. You'd think with their popularity that they would be a little more forward leaning, but maybe that's the root of the problem instead.

What's weird is that this wasn't this way until a couple years ago. This issue only seems to apply to the 200A ESC, and I had models running both 160 with BEC and 200A without this problem a few years ago.

I dont "think" they make the 160 any longer, but neither of those units had this issue with my Brain governor that I recall, but that was 3+ years ago. So they have done something in one of the past firmware updates on the 200 to create this issue which wasn't there before. It also means they could easily rectify the situation with another update if they cared to.
