Default Optimum Futaba TX for CGY FBL system?

So here it is, my mind is rolling a thought..

Wondering is the 16IZ is the optimum TX for working with Futabas latest FBL system or what is?

I have been Vbar since FBL first came out, over the years as things developed I tried beast x, ikons and you name it on the side for giggles.

Now I have all Vcontrol and the Neos I have been spoiled with simplicity. I always liked Futaba radios for their feel in my hands and such. I am considering this winter as flight time is minima,to learn and try a Futaba FBL system and want to get the most integrated TX if doing so to keep it as simple and least stress possible lol.

And out of my curiousity have any others came from the land of Vbar and into Futabas world and went back or happy as heck to now be Futaba?

Lots of pilots are flying the 16IZ or 32MZ with the 760/755 because they allow you to make changes to the programming directly from the transmitter.

All other Futaba radios require using the GPB-1 programming box to make programming changes to the 760 or 755 gyros.

Ok perfect, that is really what I wanted to know. I would much rather be able to do everything from the TX. So that said if I did get the 16IZ I would 100% never need the GPB-1 box correct??

My understanding is that for setting up a 755/760 all programming and adjustments can be done from the 16iz or 32 mz. I believe that you need the gb1 and a usb adapter to update the units though

You also need the programming box if you plan to use the HPS-700 servos. It’s the only way to put them in the 760us mode.

Buy the box with your first one. It’s handy to have.

You also need it to update the 760/755 gyros when updates are released.

Programming and tuning it is a bit easier through the radio.
Setup needs to be plugged in to the back of the radio as the concept of not being able to reverse gyro direction etc.

I use a stylus and the setup is even faster from the radio.

I have made an extension cable for use with either one and find I use the box more often. Typically I’m just adjusting one thing at a time.

Great info folks, I think this winter I will give it a go on one of my helis so I can compare fairly to the Vcontrol etc. I hope truly someday Futaba will make a simplified program specifically in radio step by step like Mikado did, its a big attraction when you make it super simple. I will need to get my mitts on a 16IZ soon to feel in hands if it is like my 8FG was for feel I loved that transmitter.

Curious on using the swash servos at the 760us mode, is it a night and day difference on feel or worth that route? I have always just ran MKS X8 850s and on others some HLTorqs etc.

Yep it is an astonishing difference. I have those servos on my Diabolo gasser and my Whiplash turbine. I’ve flown back to back flights with them in 760 and 1520 mode. There is a big difference is how locked in and how stable the heli is.

I use the 16IZ with the CGY-760R, awesome capabilities.
The box is nice for updates and 760 servos otherwise you're fine with the Tx
