Default JG's (rcbooya) T600 & 700 Canopy Mounts - Review

OK long time Helifreak user and contributor Jgeorgic which is also the helifreak Sticker man started making a new design canopy mount for the Trex600 and Trex700.

These things are the SCHNITZ! Seriously! I got so tired of replacing the T600 canopy grommets after they split and the Trex700 has a funky "clip" design that leaves something to be desired.....

Well these things solve all that. For the 600 no more grommets and for the 700 a much better approach. In my opinion these are a must have.

Anyway here is a little reviewage video I did for them.

Video Link ->RCBOOYA's Trex600 and 700 canopy mount review (18 Megs)

*******************************ATTENTION 600/700 Canopy Mount Users******************************************

It is recomended that you clean your canopy mount thumbscrews once for every 10 times you remove them from the standoffs.

Use a 70% or higher Isopropyl Alcohol solution to clean the thumbscrew threads.

This will prevent any buildup on the threads that may cause the thumbscrew to bind in the standoff and possibly break.

If you have any questions regarding this please contact me at [email protected] comcast or vist www.rcbooya.com

Thanks for flying RCBooya

************************************************** **************

Enjoy,
Bob

It's short for "Schizz Nit."

Translated to British: "It's the mutt's nuts."

Nice! I saw a bunch of them at IRCHA, and have been looking at them fro my 600N. Good to see they get the Finless Seal Of Approval.

My only wish is that someone would come up with a way to ditch the clip on the front of the 600n canopy. It's a PITA.

I've been using one on my 600N for a couple of months and love it. The only down side is that they tend to stress the holes on the canopy, so I put a coat of epoxy along the edge of each hole on the inside of the canopy to reinforce it.

As for the clip, I'm using one of the HeliDirect clips that have a longer tab for "springing" them. Popping the canopy off is a breeze. The best way I've found to put it on is to attach the back of the canopy first and then push the clip onto the strut; having the rear of the canopy anchored keeps the canopy from working against me. That's probably part of the stress on the canopy holes, although the couple of crashes I have on the current canopy are probably a big factor too.

Ooh. That clip looks neat. I shall have to order one when I order again. Thanks, Alan.

I personally didn't like the helidirect clip at all. It cracked the hell out of my canopy and was a pain in the butt for me to get on. Never had any problems with the stock clip coming off, nor any trouble getting it on.

I been using that canopy mount for a few months now. Works great, Much better than the standard mounting system align is using. I never bothered with any lock tight, I didn't find any need for it. Still holding on after 3 months.

To each his own. The stock clip was causing my knuckle to get scraped up every time I'd take the canopy off. Since I've been using the HeliDirect clip, no scrapes.

Both definitely look like the way to go. Nice looking machine work and a lot of thought in the mod. Any possibility these will be made for the middle child?
