Can't tell if mine is broken

Hi Everyone,

This thread seems to be dead but still posting here in case someone is around to help.

I recently bought this as a bday present for myself. I am 32 now. And I am not able to figure out if this thing is broken or I am not able to understand what's expected out of the box kind of experience.

Here are the problems I have:

1. 6g mode, from what I found online, is supposed to be stable, IE keeps itself steady to some extent. But mine seems to keep drifting in some direction. mostly backward or front-right. Yes, the swash seems to be straight somewhat, but why a random direction, not always backwards.

Is it suppose to stay in one place when hovering?

2. The tail motor (haven't learned the terms yet), seems to work in one direction only. It will move clock-wise only, if seeing it from the top. Does not rotate in both directions.

Is the tail suppose to move in one direction only?

3. Hover debug mode doesn't seem to be working or I am just too paranoid at this point to notice any effect at all because it keeps wanting to go in some random direction on its own (point 1)

It was quite difficult to find this where I live, and these things are not in any kind of warranty. I know it sounds stupid but that's how it is over. I hope I can get some guidance since the few resources I found online are not really addressing my concerns.

I know this is a month old but, I've only been around here for about a month.

I can fly my V977 in just about any wind, the only issue is the more wind the tougher the battle. Anything over 3-5mph I won't even attempt 3D. Flying in 3G becomes a pain as well. The best mode to fly in winds 5-10mph+ is 6G in high or low rates. I prefer high rates, as the wind actually makes it a bit more fun in these rates. The biggest thing to pay attention to is how much collective pitch you're using vs cyclic pitch. If you're full CP and nose forward, you're actually fighting the wind more than you need to. Use altitude and momentum to your advantage, and level out your CP more. You'll keep your head speed higher with a less aggressive CP, and the blades will chop through the air more smoothly. Once you have forward momentum, you don't even need CP, as the blades RPM will keep you aloft and moving. I generally give a good jab at the throttle and full CP with the wind, bring the heli high, then flatten out the CP and yaw 180* and dive back into the wind. The V977 cuts right through it.

Make no mistake, though. The V977 is lite as kite, the wind will take it if you don't fly smart. Anything above 15mph steady isn't worth the hassle of fighting, you're just bleeding the battery to hold it in place. 5-10mph is great cruising wind, for me it actually extends a bit of battery the way I cruise. I wouldn't recommend maxing out your head speed just for the sake of flying in the wind, as your flight time will be reduced, but to each their own.

Aaron yap Your tail motor problem. Try changing the tail motor. But buy the tail set and not the motor itself only. Bcuz the wire is very hard to solder . Changging entire thing is much easier .

Jk150 Hello ,i m flying v977 for last one year.for last 4 months ,i am facing a problem with my heli.when i give it fast throttle, it starts spinning in rotor head direction and when i decrease throttle suddenly it spins in reverse direction of head.i changed tail motor with blade, changed battery, replaced main circuit bord.but problem still persists. Please give me your expert opinions about this problem.thanks.

Aaron yap And BTW , does the pin that hook on the canopy broke off before?I broke 1 out of 4 . And try to use super glue to glue back.

Aaron yap Btw , in 3D , I cannot change head speed. In 6 G , is also same. Max speed is at 50%
12-12-2017 03:55 AM
Aaron yap Does anyone know how to change the frame? One of my pins just broke(for canopy). Not actually replacing it , just for information.

In a slight breeze i can still fly the k110 (aka v977) doing 3D. But beyond that it's just sport flying.

But one thing you can do to make it more stable in the wind is to bump up the headspeed as much as the motor will allow. The higher the headspeed the more stable this heli becomes against the wind. Of course up to a certain point. Add some negative Expo if you find it twitchy or too fast for you on higher headspeeds.

What rpm's? I really don't know. I just do it by feel and as much as the motor will allow.

Trying to return the favor: if you have not done it yet perhaps you can try and do the Blheli Mod I'm pretty sure the v977 has the same es c as the k110.

It will turn it into an entirely different heli.

Oops! Told you that info previously. Sowi

Personally, this is the first time i've seen this tip for this heli. I've got almost a dozen or so of gears that are just too loose after countless crashes. Doing this should be very easy and quick as i have a cordless glue gun that's always ready for use.

Thanks for the tip.

Aaron yap Guys , after a crash , my main gear is now consider lose.. and now , everytime I crash , the main gear falls out....how to fix it...this makes the bearing vulnerable to fall out....help!!

Cornfield The V977 was delivered today. The extra batteries are still somewhere in the FedEx pipeline somewhere. What kind of connector is this little white plastic gizmo?
08-22-2017 07:25 AM
Cornfield I've been hovering a V912 at the field and in my garage for a week. A friend said that I should order the V977 so it's on the way. I also ordered extra batteries for both of them.

mattbeau So not a v977, but pretty close. I flew 8 packs on mine in the back yard after replacing the tailboom and motor. I'm in dire need of new batteries as only 2 seem to be ok. I must say that was one of the easiest repairs.
